Maybe hippy just has split personality disorder. He does talk about
himself in the 3rd person a lot and he is kinda weird.. hahaha :P

No one seems to have mentioned it yet.. but.. FIT IS IT!!!
Make sure whatever you get fits properly!!!

By wary that brands DO change the internal shape of their helmets in
different models, ie. the MET Anaxagore has a sharpish point at the back
the digs really painfulling into the back of my head whereas the
Ippogrifo doesn't have the same mould and fits my boof head much better!

This is why I got the funky bandana with the rubber strip above the eyes which acts like a 'sweat-diverter'... works a treat. (http://www.haloheadband.com.au/products.html)

You say you're willing to sell them to me if I pay you $145. I say I'm
willing to take them from you if you pay me $130. How about we split the
    difference -- I'll give you $15. ๐Ÿ™‚

How well does that work in a heavy rainstorm?

The big difference is cheaper helmets have the platic outer stuck on
with something resembling electrical tape, whereas the more expensive
"in moulded" helmets have the plastic outer moulded into the foam. They
may or may not offer more protection but they will remain intact for
longer as there's no tape to wear out.
As you move up the price range helmets also tend to get lighter and have
better ventilation and better harness systems. Most importantly.. they
    look better :P

And probably give less protection as all the air vents mean less
polystyrofoam; to say sothing about objects sticking through the vents.

A few years back I bought a $25 Twister Helmet from Kmart because it
rated as one of the best for ventilation iin some study in Bicycle
Australia Mag. The only problem is that on a couple of long rides I
ended up up with a sun burnt scalp because the sun got in where the
air was supposed to... Perhaps I don't need as much ventilation as
    people with hair.

Oh yes, the Twister helmet is still going strong! Good value and when
you get to my age who cares about style? Mind you it seems no worse
than any other helmet I've seen.

    Regards
    Bruce

Ooh...personal peeve of mine, that. That's about the thing I hate the very
most about riding in the rain (which, on the whole, I don't mind much).

It's so true. I had a voucher for a free eyebrow wax from my hair salon
(women pay for this normally) and thought, "that sounds cool, I can have
sexy eyebrows" (what-EV-er) so got it done a week out from a race. So my
eyebrows were a little bit shorter, and that let the sweat trickle
around the ends of my brows and down into my eyes. Damn that sucked!
Think I got a good time though...

LOL! So I should've shaved my eyebrows and not my legs?!
