Minimalist backstory: Lurker for years and years, several failed
attempts at Atkins over the last ten years or so. 33 yo female,
~50lbs overweight, lifelong weight problems, obese family. Not
experiencing PMS or on any medications. Moderate activity level.
A little older now, vaguely more focused, have actually stuck to
by-the-book Induction for one week now, which is a huge success for
me. I don't know how much weight I've lost; I'm a very slow loser so I
have to stay away from the scale or I get very discouraged. Clothes
are looser.
So anyway, it's been a week. Meat, fresh veggies, some cheese here and
there (had big cheese problems in the past--trying to keep it way
down). Going for a very 'keep it simple, stupid' approach, not playing
with any complex recipes or low carb 'products'.
My problem is I am getting awful, awful cravings starting about an
hour after dinner and pretty much sticking around for the whole night.
It really doesn't make any sense to me. Dinner is always very
straightforward. Last night was roast pork tenderloin and some
broccoli with real butter. So why the massive cravings an hour later?
Isn't that what *carbs* are supposed to do to you? (Lunch was roast
beef rolled with swiss cheese, for those feeling detective-y.)
The cravings are fairly sugar-specific, my brain conjures up images of
chocolate and whatnot, but at the time it also feels like walnuts or
berries or even tea with Splenda would kill it. All of which I am
trying to avoid during Inductin, and anyway I feel like giving into
these cravings is going to perpetuate the cycle. Isn't it? Opinions
welcome here--try to ignore the cravings, or give in with the
borderline-legal foods above? The cravings are bad enough that portion
control is a potential issue also.
I don't think eating more meat or cheese is the answer, as I find
these things are not the magic craving/hunger-killers for me they are
supposed to be.
33 yo female, ~50lbs overweight, lifelong weight problems, obese
family. Not experiencing PMS or on any medications. Just trying to
brainstorm what this is. It's been a full week, shouldn't a lot of the
sugar addiction be out of my system by now? It's never been my primary
food problem, and I've been keeping the sucralose to absolute minimum.
Thanks in advance.
