I'm moving into the club mode for the winter. As is always the problem with me when working out indoors, getting way over heated and sweating, and then just plain way to uncomfortable.
My question is does anyone out there sell at least a 6" fan that runs on batteries and is of the clip on type? I have seen very small fans, but I need one large enough to actually move some air. They are no outlets near the equipment to plug into.

Oooh! Me! I know the answer to this one!
Get some lights and get out there, as nature intended :-)

Hook up your workout machine to a generator that drives a fan so the harder you work the more breeze you get, just like on a real bike.

Hmmph. My daughter has a gym membership and goes about every other day but dad, the crazy bike rider is the one who is in shape. Go figure. The exercise that is fun is the one that gets done. She is a dangerously good kick boxer but still can't get down to that model weight she seems to think she needs to get down to. At 5'8" she is taller than her 5'7" dad and much larger hands and feet so she is never going to be a 98 pound Twiggy. Just don't [censored] her off after a few drinks on Friday night. Female, 25, attitude, and a damn good kickboxer, but not skinny and hates fat jokes but doesn't realize she is muscular and not fat. I need to get her back out on a bike and encourage carefully. To Hell with the indoor stuff.

Or a variation on this. Get a set of Kreitler rollers with the "Killer Headwind" unit. It's probably about the cost of a single annual membership fee at the local club and it'll last a lifetime. And it does just as you say ... The harder you work, the more wind you get.
And besides, rollers are an awesome indoor training routine for the winter.

I just got off my rollers...Kreitler with the headwind. Great workout and rehabilitating for the knees IMHO. You can get cheaper rollers for 160 from performance. Try it, you'll like it.
