  1. I showed up and competed in another triathlon today. I did just fine -
respectable enough, despite longer distances and scarier competition.
In fact, that's the point of me writing this: I wanted to encourage you
guys to get in the arena. There's just something about competing in
your chosen sport that is unlike any other endeavor. It focuses my
training, it hones my skills, it gives me a chance to kick-ass.

A woman I had been chatting at before the race popped out of the water
right next to me. As we ran up a hill to our bikes she said something
about really hammering it on the bike. I said, "race yuh!" and meant
it. I think she beat me back on the bike, but I passed her early in the
run and never saw her again. It's good to go head to head once in a while.

Get out there and try it.

With no focus, little training, no skills, and a huge fat [censored], it
    amazes me you finish.

You know what, Bill? I meant YOU. You need to get off your fat hairy
ass and get out there and compete. All these snide little remarks
denigrating me just make you look like a bitter failure that needs to
pull others down to your size.

Your statements about me are without merit. You are supremely
uninformed. For you information, I have fantastic focus, lots of
training, a little skill and a much less fat ass than I used to. I'm
amazed that I start. But once I start, I'm not amazed that I finish.

You should try it sometime. Get out there and move your body in a
competition. In Springfield there is a great bike club called the
Cyclonauts that are a big presence in the local triathlon communities.
It's $40 bucks to join (plus the uniform) and you train three times a week.

If triathlons aren't your bag, why not run? Enter a 10K race. You can
find one at www.active.com. There are 5K races in Northampton every
Tuesday evening at 6:30 that only cost $3 to enter and are friendly on a
beautiful cross country course. Google "sugarloaf mountain athletic club."

I passed a guy on the run today that is 69 years old and has done four
triathlons this summer, and 155 consecutive 5Ks in Northampton. He's a
nice guy, stubborn as hell and exemplifies what it's like to get out
there and get in the arena. He shows up race after race, week-end after
week-end, and gets passed by fat-ass forty year olds like me, but he's
out there competing and I respect him to bits for it.

What kind of man are you? The kind that bring people down while you sit
bitterly on the computer, or the kind that gets out there and works on
    bettering YOURSELF? Your choice.

  4. You dumb fatazz,
I've run more marathons than your fatass has read about. Biking is for
    [censored].

    Excerpt from www.runningtimes.com/billr/billbio.htm

Bill Rodgers' most famous victories occurred at the New York City and Boston
Marathons, both of which he won an astounding four times. His first victory in
Boston came in 1975, where he posted a then-CR of 2:09:55. He won again in 1978
(2:10:13), set a then American record of 2:09:27 in 1979, and won yet again in
1980 with a 2:12:11. At New York, he set a then CR of 2:10:10 in 1976, then won
    again in 1977 (2:11:28), 1978 (2:11:28) and 1979 (2:12:12). In all, he has toed
the starting line at 57 marathons, running 28 of them under 2:15.

Yes, obviously this troll isn't him, but he is claiming to be one of the most
    famous marathoners in history.

There has never been a bigger complete and total loser in MFW than
that idiot. They guy spends all of his waking hours trolling Usenet

runner because he has no accomplishments of his own.

Why? To prove to a fatazz like you and [censored] I did it? I don't need
your approval, nor justification. My advice on running has proven
sound over the years on RR, where it is obvious I know my stuff.
Running 9 miles a day should give you a clue, that I could run another
one at anytime I wanted to.

I totally agree. My wife decided to enter a martial arts tournament
