Sebastien Joly increased his gap on Jimmy Casper by 1:12 today for a
difference of 5:57. Joly was in danger of losing his grasp of the Lanterne
Rouge yesterday when Casper attacked off the back of Joly's group to finish
solo, 5:35 behind, cutting Joly's 'lead' by more than half.
Rumors of drug use in this Cofidis/Credit Agricole rivalry are remarkably
absent.

My Cofidis man Peter Farazijn finished at 97th overall with the front group
today and is less than 20 minutes behind Botero, 6' 03" behind Ekimov, and
is ahead of Thor, Boonen, and Robbie in the GC. Not bad for a 35 year old
non-starter who hasn't seen the Tour in five years.

Casper cut it so close that he missed the time cut (by 30"
or so). The jury re-instated him, saying that he was held
up by the crowds (of course, he was probably pushed up by
the crowds as well). Whatever, Casper gave it his all on a
difficult mountain stage, and you have to admire that.
