So I was going to do Barb's rhubarb cake...when I fall off the low carb diet; I don't mess about... I didn't have a good deep 9 by 13 inch pan...So a shopping Field Trip was initiated...So while shopping for a good pan I saw a nice looking portable grill/bbq. So while on 1 impluse I bought 2 things...this cake better be good.
Got myself one of those corningware 9 by 13s the newer style kinda oval and kinda blue. And a shiny new car-trunk sized gas grill toy. But what the hey! it's my birthday soon.

Sounds like you had a good time. It is only your birthday once a year, after all... Enjoy! Cathy

I realized the date of my birth comes once a month, all year round. And boy do I feel old.

I just got a little Sunbeam tabletop gas grill at WalMart. It appears to have about 6,012 parts, but I'm looking forward to the Grilling Experience at last. When I put it together.
Does it claim "Assembles in minutes." ???
I bought a BBQ once that said that on the box, but they didn't tell you it takes 400 minutes!!! The BUMS!!!

No time estimate on the box, and it took a bunch of minutes, but directions were good and it *is* together.
Haven't tried it yet. Trying to decide what to cook first. Leaning toward something simple like maybe chicken breasts with a soy-ginger glaze. That should be pretty hard to screw up, no?

Chicken breasts are easy to screw up. Biggest problem is overcooking them and too high a heat. Consider brining them. The difference between a nicely done breast and one that is too dry and tough is only a minute or two if the heat is too high. Skin on is less prone to drying also.
Don't put the glaze on too soon either or it will burn.

Yep. Both A and B. :-) Things certainly go a lot faster in a gas grill with the lid closed than on an open charcoal grate. However, the chicken *was* edible. And the grill worked perfectly -- no problems at all. I need practice, but over all, am quite pleased.
