Nice pics...I s'pose you're riding options have changed substantially huh?

I lived in CO for 15 years (moved to Oregon a few years ago). Those photos made me a bit homesick. There is great riding out there. If you get a chance do some riding around Estes Park and check out the herds of elk up there, simply awesome. You should definately get to the west slope as well (Loma-Mary's loop/Lion's loop, Fruita/Grand Junction-Lunch loop or Pollack canyon). Pollack and Mary's/Lions are my faves! I heard they are going to (or have) close Polack canyon to everyone but horses and hikers. Have fun up there.

I can see my house in your first link, second photo... Since you are new to the area... Try riding
up Chimney Gulch (start near the Mines practice fields go under Hwy 6) down Apex (Take Enchanted
Forrest). Take you first left to the top and back down and when you hit the main trail take a left
back out to the parking lot. Due to proximity one of my favorite after work rides...

Hmm, been to Estes Park, didn't see any elk; must've been all those drunk teenagers I was with
(surely it wasn't ME!).

There's a big herd of elk west of Portland in Gale's Creek; we come across them from time to time on
rides. Those suckers can really climb hills - makes me jealous!

I was in Estes on Sunday, no riding, but I did see a goodly number of Elk milling about on the golf
course. With an apprehensive cluster of golfers looking on from a respectful remove. I hope those
elk did some jumping jacks on the greens... ;*)

Forgive the previous rant, bad day and work and I had little tolerence left.
