Any rider that sign before the event takes that chance. They are pros. They know the risks and the

It could be both. Sometimes championship incentives are written to pay for having a jersey. I wish I
could remember an example, but these incentives are often written so that the jersey owner for
national and world's jerseys get a bonus. Any championship that awards a jersey has perks for the
sponsor until they lose the jersey and it makes sense for incentives to be written that way. Not
that they always are, but some agents are smart enough to ask.

I am pretty sure that Millar is one of the guys that has a bonus for jersey ownership. Maybe Jeff
Jones knows of a few others.

I would not have posted anything had the entire group not been hanging off websites (Eurosport etc.)
for results, and had TV coverage not been so sparse (nonexistent in the States).

the jersey lasts throughout the year, but the little stripes (and associated prestige) are
perpetual. I'm pretty sure being able to accent your team jersey with the cute little stripes makes
you a more attractive signee for the rest of your pro career.

I don't think I've ever seen an Armstrong on-bike shot post-1993 where he wasn't wearing the stripes
(race-leader shots excepted).

I think only the actual winner of said stripes gets to wear them. So Lance gets his from the RR and
I think Eki has a set from the ITT, and perhaps one of the others may have some from Track or
somewhere. Maybe you can find a photo link and we can check em out?
