AFAIK, plonking the imposter won't block the real poster. (Not positive

You'd have to block him at his news server ID, and I do not think any
newsreaders do that. I'd tried doing a filter in Thunderbird, but no go.

I will try and keep my posts bike related. So, no riding this weekend
as the snow is still too deep. Bummer! Anyone know a trail that I
could ride to the trailhead from the gaslamp district in San Diego?
Flat is better as I'll be on an SS for the first time. I might get a
little time to ride on Monday or Tuesday.

Try Xnews. It has MUCH better filtering. I haven't seen any of
these messages being talked about. As a default filter, I've
killing any post that is a) crossposted to more than two other
newsgroups or b) crossposted to non-biking newsgroups. Since
you can use regular expressions to set up filters in Xnews, it
can be set up to do just about any kind of filter you can
dream up.
It uses a 'score' system like spamassasin so you can add or
subtract a score to messages based on different rules until
they reach a threshold. Once messages go over a score of 9999,
they are killed.

Pan allows you to block by message-ID content.

I DL'ed X-News, but I cannot figure out the scoring thing. I guess
that's how you have eliminated xposts? Can you send me your score script?
