Identify this snake

A snake. Seriously, it's safest to assume that all snakes are nasty, and
avoid them. "Black" could be a
Brown, King Brown, Tiger,Red-Belly, Copperhead....

Maybe it was an old bike tube that some kid had tied a bit of string to and
was dragging across the path from the trees somewhere (used to do this on
the footpath near school as a kid!!!)

Could be a tiger snake or copper head,they both can be all black with yellow scales underneath or possibly red bellied black snake with bright red to pale pink colour underneath?

"You lucky lucky [censored]" we've been looking for them along the creek for ages ,with no luck.Anyone now the best place to spot them?

Hard to tell from the description, but possibly a whip snake such as the yellow-faced whip snake, Demansia psammophis.

Where he was on a hot day. Pretty much everytime I ride that stretch of road on a warm to hot sunny day I'll see at least one snake. The most snake infested part is actually the singletrack right up near Burke road.

Worst thing about MTBing in summer is snakes. Especally around waterways.

Look out for hoop snakes. Particularly prevalent around cycling tracks.
