I.T. Geeks and Bikes

HEY, I resemble that remark! 🙂

I'm an IT Geek as well and love being outdoors. What better way than to blast down the trails/roads and break neck speeds! Oh yeah, I'm not middle aged either, just feel like it somedays. 🙂

Yeah, throwing assorted code at devices and servers all day is fun enough, but its great to put that down for a bit and pedal like a maniac a few times a week.
I was a Heavy Equipment mechanic for 15 years out in the field. Lots of weather conditions and outdoor enjoyment. After moving into an office and no longer spending time outside, I put alot of effort into finding an outdoor activity that was good for me and fun too. Thats where cycling came in. Thank goodness it has agreed with me. Bicycles are neat ! 🙂

Is it that we suffer having been trapped too long in front of little plastic and glass boxes all day and need to get out more at our ages ?

I'm an outsourced IT geek. Does that count?

When I can get a job offer doing something besides desktop support for $25,000 a year I'll consider going back to work. 😠 Until then I'm retired.

Another IT guy here. Programmer on weekdays and cyclist on weekends.

Business I.T. guy here. Cycling fits right into my love of the outdoors. When I'm not fishing or hunting, riding on a trail through the woods keeps me in touch with old mother nature.

Verifying Code is so unnatural, but it pays better than cycling does at this point in time.

IT geek/cyclist here. I am a managing consultant for one of the big 4 firms. I can't wait to go riding this weekend. I have been staring out the window all week looking at the nice weather we have been having and longing to be out there.

I love my job. There is nothing (practically) I would rather be doing to earn a buck but I use to be a surveyor and I do miss being out in the fresh air and sun all day.

Another middle aged IT geek here. Indoors all day, and my job will probably be outsourced to India soon, but where else could I have this much fun, and a bright future, too?

Why a bike? I used to ride crits in college, sort of missed it. Actually, it's more a mental vacation than anything. Turn off the mind and just go. Plus, you get these neat, personal devices to tinker with and buy new trinkets for. Why buy a new suit, when you could get those Zipp wheels you've really been wanting?
