  1. 4th week of Atkins, this week I added Atkins morning start bars...and
cooked a big turkey. Now I am having cravings, I made sugar free Jell-O
    at 9 pm last night.

    Am i doing something wrong?

  3. It's normal for weight loss to temporarily slow or stop. And around
the 3rd or 4th week seems to be a common time for this to happen. I
doubt the cramps are related to either cooking a turkey or eating an
Atkins morning start bar. Did you get cramps when you ate the first
bar? How many have you had with no problem? These have glycerine
which I don't think cause the gastric side effects of sugar alcohols.

Still, I would go slow on using the bars. I've used the Atkins bars
with glycerine with no problems. But I use one occasionally, not
    everyday.

I stalled when I ate Atkins bars, but that was long ago. I would hope
they are better now. Make sure you keep up on your water.

The OP didn't say anything about cramps.

  6. "The OP didn't say anything about cramps"

Yes, I misread that. It was cravings! Then I guess it depends on what
kind of cravings. If she's craving sweets, then I'd stop the bars. If
she's craving turkey, then I'd start eating!

Everyone trying to make money in the diet game seems to make "BARS" of
some kind for people to consume.

If you can't lose weight without the BARS, you are probably on a diet
which does not have your health interests at heart.

    $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

Monaey helps make the world go 'round.

Hopefully, real food will be your focus.

    Not BARS....

BARS are too much like candy bars in disguise so that they are a
    "Healthy Junk Food Form".

    .....

I was thinking about that as well when I look at the row after row of
ready-made sauces in the supermarket. Money making wise they're just
    like the bars.

Interestingly just when I started Atkins, I also stopped buying those
ready-made sauces. I don't think my grocery bill has become lower as a
result, but I think the dollar/nutrient I was buying has increased as a
result of buying more fresh food.

  8. Your body is going into starvation mode and holding onto stored fat. It is
not getting the proper nutrients. Try eating some fresh fruit, berries and
nuts along with the meats that you are eating now. Stay away from peanuts,
beans, grains and sugars and you will be in a much better place than Atkins
    alone.

She didn't tell us what she eats or how much she eats, only that she
happened to cook a turkey, make some jello and ate some low-carb bars.
What part of that consistutes "starvation mode"? Without more
    information, that's a HUGE leap.

CathyLee, as others have said, a slowdown at the 3rd to 4th week is
VERY common, particularly since you are primarily losing fat by then,
not water -- water loss is quick and easy -- fat loss takes longer.
There is also the possibility that you are retaining water due to PMS.
In any case, we would need more information about what you usually eat
to help you figure it out.

Doesn't sound like starvation to ME.

I was wondering if the bars caused anyone else to have cravings?

What are the ingredients? Some people have cravings after eating
various sugar alcohols and some don't. Some have cravings from one
TYPE of sugar alcohol, but not others. You can cut out the bars for a
few days and see what happens. A woman's "Time of the Month" (aka TOM)
can also cause cravings. I don't crave sugar then, but I DO crave
salty stuff -- a LOT of salty stuff. Since I'm GOING to gain water
weight then ANYWAY, I usually just give in, eat salty stuff and ride it
    out, knowing that it's temporary.
