  1. OK, fresh off my post of a few days ago touting how great I was doing on my
low-carb diet, last night was not great. For whatever reason, I had 3
pizzas of thick crust pizza, some chips, a bowl of cereal, and some candy.
    Just couldn't seem to stop...

The worst part....I was up 3 frickin pounds this morning!!!! WTF!!!???

I know...its my body retaining water, glycogen stores, blah blah blah...just
[censored] me off that my weakness translanted into a backwards momentum on my
weight loss. Especially because I had been only half a pound from the 200lb
milestone I've been striving to hit....

Anyhoo...just had to vent. Back on the wagon today....hope that binge will
    last me a while.

  2. Some people are just born to be fat, for various reasons.

  3. Hi Brad, for what it's worth, it seems as though if I even taste a carb, I
lose control. I guess that makes us "carb addicts?"

Anyway, when I was LC'ing (some time ago), I used to make pizza using
zucchini for the crust. The entire family loved it. So, next time the urge
hits you, you may want to give it a try. Unfortunately, I don't have a
substitute for chips and cereal. There are some wonderful candy bars out
there, stay close to the house if you ever try them. :-)

  4. One nice benefit of low carb is all the first carbs you eat go
straight to water/glycogen cause you are operating at a depleted level
when at very low carbs. If you stick to low carbs for 2-4 days you
will see may see it fall off within just a few days. When I did gain
that water weight I typically dropped 1/2+ lb a day afterwards. It is
a nice safety margin and I think one of the reasons I was able to
continue losing weight for so long.

Sometimes success is as frightening as failure, for me, at least. There
are some fears about being 'thin", too. (Again, for me, at least). If
you can figure out why you self-sabotaged...? Or, maybe you "rewarded"
yourself for a job well done with a carb frenzy?

Don't focus on becoming thin. Focus on becoming healthy.

I just posted my latest cholesterol readings, but what y'all didn't
know is that I also had to have a cervical biopsy last week. The doc
left a voice mail message for me while I was working out at the gym -
I'm fine. No cervical problems, and I'm asymptomatic for Type II (but
    I still have it).

    Diabetes.

Today, I left a message for my doctor asking what my fasting blood
sugar was, and he told me that he didn't bother doing it since my HA1c
was normal, and so were my last two fasting blood sugar tests. He did
say I could stop at the lab and drop off some more blood, if I felt
    like it (I don't).

  10. Myra---ah, got it. Hmmmm. Well...I would think low carbing would be the
ideal diet for diabetes...isnt it? Do you have to take any diabetes
    meds?

I have lots of D on both sides of my fam, my mom, two aunts (all
deceased) and my most recent fasting blood test showed a slightly above
high norm blood sugar. So....I guess you could say D is in the cards,
sooner or later. Im hoping losing weight and elim. sugars and sugary
carbs will nip it in the bud.....?

Im glad you have no symptoms.

I take 1,000 mg of Metformin every day, but that's about it, other
    than diet and exercise.

I hope so, but there are no guarantees in life. 🙂
