Today on the way home I saw an unlit pavement cyclist! And then he rode out onto the road! That just goes to prove that 100% of all cyclists ride on the pavement with no lights. Apart from the six I saw riding perfectly legally, obviously.
Also spotted in the Morning Hate: cars backed up for a mile and more, blocking the junctions and all sorts - no idea what was going on, but exchanged a cheery greeting with community copper PC Stratton who was making excellent progress thanks to his wise decision to go with the one plod-power police vehicle :-)

They were pretty incredible this evening, especially at the roundabout by the Orifice (a shopping centre). Why do they queue across the junction like that? Then when the lights change the ones going other ways can't get through the queue and they're all stuck. Except me of course. And then they get upset at me because I can move and they can't!
Why don't we put up signs telling them what the yellow cross-hatching means? Why hasn't RBC's useless website got a suggestion box so I can tell them this makes Pat Boxter (head of highways, don't believe anyone you meet in a pub claiming to be Pat Boxter, that's me trolling) look silly? -- Sue ];(🙂

If they were on the pavement, surely they were not riding legally?

I think I saw him too. Or rather them, as there were two of them on the said BMX bike, displaying a carefree disregard not only for the demarcation 'twixt road and footway but also for that foolish "driving on the left" business. They may have been French secret agents, sent by Jacques Chirac to destabilise the regime, thoigh, in which case they wer not doing a vey good job.

How? Unlit cyclists are invisible aren't they?
Exactly! They are the dark matter of the roads if you will. Once we can work out how to count them we'll know all sorts of things about traffic and whether or not its expanding or contracting.

I had thought that unlit cyclists were very visible. They must be as drivers are always reporting 'seeing' them. To be truly invisible one needs to fit at least £100 worth of high power halogen lighting to ones cycle!
