  1. For the last three weeks I have scheduled my day around my daily (and sometimes) nightly fix of the
TDF. Now that my girlfriend has hit the bricks thanks to the TDF, what should I do between now and
The Tour de Espana? Watch reruns of the stages?

  2. You are not alone, PTdFWS (Post TdF Withdrawal Syndrome) is a tough thing, best recommendation I can
give you is an IV drip of Valium and chain lube....

  3. I watching Tivo'd episodes of the often lame but sometimes intersting "Bicycle Journal" on OLN.

I just got some tapes from a friend of some races (from 2001), and that should tide me over for a
while. And there's also baseball and rugby on Fox to fill the gap. We haven't been able to catch
sunday morning rugby because it was a choice between taping that or the Tour.

    Masturbation is an option.

  6. What a letdown to turn to OLN and once again see fat guys all dressed up in camo shooting helpless
animals and then posing with their "kill" I missed Sunday's coverage so I'm looking forward to
    Thursday's recap.

GROSS! Here in canada we don't get that "american shooter" show, but lots of oversized goobs in
kilts throwing boulders. Oh, the excitement!

  8. Gee, how about riding your bike!!!!!!!

Hop on your bike and try to act out each stage. You can pretend to be any of the big stars, or not.
That should keep you busy till the vuelta.

LOL, yeah, gee, what a novel idea! And in the middle of summer!

In fact, I did yesterday and am going again today. We finally have nice weather after about four
[censored] days. Believe me, there are 20000 things I'd rather do than watch tv on a nice day. I'll list
them: cycling, cycling, cycling, cycling, cycling.....

  11. But isn't it nice to be able to go through you day without having to avoid any potential source of
news that might give away what happend so you can watch OLN "unspoiled"?

I was just going to mention that, actually. Now I don't have to avoid the TV and internet all day,
or wait until after I watch the stage to check the newsgroups. In an ideal world, no one would post
anything in their headers that gives anything away, but we all live in different time zones, and we
can't ALL be relied on to keep our little mouths shut, LOL. But that's in a perfect world. And my
record for result avoidance wasn't perfect- you check out a website, or turn on the tv and CNN has
it on the news ticker...gah! SO a couple of times I knew. But on the days of the big mountain
    stages, I was super vigilant.

On the the day of the first ITT, I only cheated by checking the GC, not the results, to see if there
had been any changes. When I saw Jan had moved up, I figured he had either won or placed very high.
But I didn't know he won until later. I'm glad I didn't ruin that one!

Alex' advice is good since that is what works for me. One day I am Jan or Iban or Tyler. One day I
am Alessandro. One day I am Lance and one day or several I am the Lanterne Rouge, Hans De Clercq,
    of Belgium.

Even the Lanterne Rouge can outclimb/out-col 99.5% of Cat. 1 racers.

-Ken (whose wife learned a ton of strategy this year -- markedly more so that the previous two
Tours. She can actually talk the talk and knows an ordinary Joe who trains just 250 mi./week will
    never race Le Tour)
