He also gives a lot of credit to his teamates. Smart guy. He
understands how to separate the ego of getting great satisfaction from
kicking people's ass from the way he conducts himself in human
relations.

His teamates like him, so they work for him 100% and it enables him to
kick even more ass. Even rivals like him and they won't work against
him as much (evidenced by the lack of challenge in some recent races)
and he kicks even more ass.

There are a lot of very talented riders who can't separate their ego
from the way they conduct themselves and it costs them, in a lotta
ways, ways they don't even realize. Boonen is the antithesis of that.

There were times when Cipo came across as a bit egotistical, but it seemed
like he had really good rapport with most of the peloton. I wouldn't say he was
in the same league as Boonen on that front, though.

Okay, better wording on my part: "it seemed like he *generally* had good
rapport with most of the peloton." In the instance you pointed out, he
definitely got what he deserved.
