Dear all,
Below is a short description of an incident involving a AUtomobileassociation driving school car containing only the instructor. I am deeply traumatised by the attitude reflected by a seemingly responsible company, and am now most concerned for my safety, along with the safety of all cyclists on the road. I dont know whether or not i can take action (of any kind) and was wondering if you could provide me with your opinion(s) regarding thios matter. The accident ewas reported to thepolice approximately half and hour after the fact, and i have sustained concussion and bruising to my knee and elbow. ALthough I havnt been to the hospital, but i might if the pain doesn;t subside. My bike is also a right-off! Please help!
'At 1745 on friday the 4th july 2003 i was travelling by bicycle through a road in surrey. Whilst manouvering my bike during the redf cycle of the trafficlights guiding vehicles to a station approach I could see that the driver of an AA silver ford focus was obviously annoyed by me moving my cycle to the front of his queue. I noticed this but continued to move my bike out of his way. I was still clearly at the front of his car and not in any blind spot. When the lights yturned green he accelerated over the rear half of my bike and had it not been for my quick reactions and the consequent movement of my legs to the front half of ther biker he would have run me ovber too. The impact of the accident left me on the floor tangled in my bike with a gash on my elbow and a concussion cvaused through my head and arm and knee hitting the concrete. The driver did not at any time stop to check if if i was ok, infact he contuned accelerating his ford focus driving school car into the distance. '
yours sincerely
Matt
