even password protect them if you want to.

Most ISPs provide some server space for personal webpages. You use an FTP
uploader to put the JPG on the server. You then distribute the URL in your
USENET post.

Many folk also used websites that will host your personal pictures. I
haven't needed to explore that. I think Yahoo does it.

Some of the trolls you encountered are regulars here. Don't take them
personally.

Use a different hosting site for your Before and After shots and/or
use a different screen name for them. Don't use the screen name
anywhere else then take it down after "X" number of days.
Alternately you could just tell anyone who makes fun of your Before
shot to bite you. Regardless of any other things you've done, you
still lost the weight and earned the right to claim that as an
accomplishment.

would like to show his Before and After shots. He did low carb it

Oh I have no problem with that part -- personally, though, *I* would
want to make an INFORMED decsion. I would feel like a fool if I helped
out someone only to discover later that it's a temporarily behaving
jerk that I would normally have filtered out if he hadn't changed his
name.
