So, did you use a mill with a rotary base? Just curious. OR a simple belt sander...
I wonder if that blasted nub had any use. Does it strengthen the interface at all? Maybe it's just for style, although multiple al. cranks have it. There must be a reason for it.

Vertical mill.
The nub is for their spider attachment... no strength gains, no use on a uni.
