There's a subculture out in newsgroups who actually do this for fun. Some of them even think of
it as a type of performance art. The more responses they get to their troll posts, the bigger
their "score".

Honestly, they *only* post these things to *get a response*. If you don't respond, they
eventually go away.

Another point, I can block posts like this easily enough by doing a kill on the person who posted
it. But I don't want to block you, so even if I block them, I still see your response. Which means I
still see the idiot post.

Unless, of course, I start making a habit of blocking everyone who responds to trolls, but that
would be sad. 🙂 I don't want to do that.

So the best thing to do is just ignore them. There is only one reason any troll posts, and that's to
get responses. As long as you don't respond, they're not getting what they want, and eventually they
go somehwere else.
