  1. Was rolling down a nice long hill to Frederiksdal today when an open silver Porsche 911 suddenly
speeds along a sideroad towards the bikepath. He actually had his wheels on the bikepath but I was
able to swerve so I didnt crush the car under my wheels.

(Then I scowled at the stupid kid who was steering the radiocontrolled car.) ;-)

    Mikael

Trivia fact: Most roadbikes are cooked after 5 mins at 50 kph. Pros excluded of course.

If Jan Ulrich smashes bicycles with a Porsche 911, why not smash a Porsche 911 with a bicycle?

  3. Yesterday, I was riding out for the hills, when I heard a whining noise ahead and saw a little black
RC car heading right towards me, apparently challenging me to a game of chicken. At the last
instant, the car swerved off and I saw a grinning 8-year old boy holding the controler down the road
a ways. As I passed, I heard the loud voice of a father say, "Bring that car in here! It's grounded
for a month!". The old man had seen what the kid was doing and took action. Too bad such parental
    control isn't applied more often.

I like the way you think, Tom.

Better yet, Tom, try to smash a Porsche Cayenne, which compounds the sin of conspicuous uselessness
by being one of the ugliest things I have ever seen on four wheels. OK, the Pontiac Aztek is worse,
but I've only ever seen on in photos...

A fortunate fact to which you shoudl hoist a pint daily. An aztec in person is enough to make one

When I carry my polished alum GRR and my blue Ryan around in the back of Trusty Rusty, my yellow '73
Datsun pick up truck, people whisper about my sin of conspicuous consumption and with shaking heads
talk about how much I paid for those bicycles. I would love to have a Porsche Cayenne to transport
the bikes . I'm thinking if they're gonna talk anyway why not give 'em something really sinful to
    talk about.

    \ Skip,

Jim knows me and is just jabbing my ribs a bit, since I ride a TE. But, I also ride a USS SWB, which
is his preferred mode of transport, when he's not driving that Gawd-awful-pile-of
    metal-on-4-wheels-Aztec. 8-).

It's kind of like the old VW Thing. You either love it or hate it. It's that industrial/
    utilitarianism thing.

At $24K, it's un VW like and not on my "to buy" list.

Okay, it is even uglier than a Tour Easy.

The U.S.A. is a huge market, so there is more chance to find plenty of people who 's tastes lean
towards a car like that, they dare not take a chance over here in the U.K. where fuel economy is
King and gas costs $5 a gallon. The most popular cars are city cars with great economy.

    Ian

  19. It's not too bad if you park one next to a Honda Element. They sort of share the ugly.

Don't do it Skip! When I first saw a picture of a Cayenne in one of brother-in-law Brandenburg's
German motoring comics, I was convinced it was a photo of a heavily disguised prototype. It wasn't.

Mind you, I wish I could /afford/ to buy one, so then I wouldn't...
