  1. I posted this a few months ago, and I finally got to an endocrinologist
who agrees that I have reactive hypogycemia (I already knew that, since
I've been testing my blood glucose for months). I have only been
running 1-2 x per week, and only a couple miles, otherwise the symptoms
recur. A couple weeks ago I pushed it a bit and ran just 3 miles 3 days
in a row and felt dizzy and pretty rotten for almost a week (no
Gatorade at all this time)-thats when I finally went to my GP and asked
for referral to the specialist. He did a bunch of tests and ruled out
    other illness. No diab

Anyway, I'm just wondering if there are any other hypos out there with
similar problems and how you have dealt with it. I see a dietician
tomorrow but I am skeptical that a few dietary changes are going to
eliminate these rather pronounced symptoms after such short runs. I
want to believe though. I have learned in the last few months that I
can eat before running without intestinal trouble, but so far it hasnt
    helped.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I'm in my mid-40s, and I've been trying to become a light-moderate
runner off and on for a several years now. Last August I started again,
real slow, built up to about 2.5-3 miles per run at a very slow pace,
about 5 days/week. Then in Dec I quit for a while due to cold and snow
(played hockey at least 1-2x per week, and did some light skiing) , and
started up again a few weeks ago, started with 1-1.5 miles and now I'm
back at about 2.5 miles with 2 rest days between runs.

After (not during) my last 3 runs though, I have suffered from extreme
hunger and lightheadedness for up to 48-72 hours afterward. These
symptoms point toward hypoglycemia, which I have always believed I
have, but they are very unusual in lasting so long. Usually
hypoglycemic incidents last only till I eat something, and the symptoms
are more severe, with sweating, and feeling like I am going to faint.
But then they go right away within minutes. The only thing that makes
me feel better for these run-induced problems is to drink lots and lots
of Gatorade (> 1/2 gallon/day), which, unfortunately, is not really a
good thing for hypoglycemia because it can lead to a major blood sugar
crash. And it has a few times.

Just wondering if this happens to anyone else and what you do, or if
this might be something other than hypoglycemia.

2.5 miles seems like an awfully short run to cause symptoms that last
so long. I dont have this problem when I play hockey, which is much
higher intensity and longer duration, though I get rest breaks. I only
run first thing in the AM because I cant run with food in me (maybe a
bite or two of banana) or I get violent diarrhea all day, but I'm
wondering if I will have to start eating prior. Going all night without
fuel and then running may be just too much for a hypoglycemic. I am
paying closer attention to what I eat, staying away from refined foods
and sugars, and now I'm trying to eliminate caffeine and alcohol (1
beer per night is all I drink) but there is conflicting info on what
hypoglycemics should eat. Much of the info on the web is contradictory
and/or highly suspect (lemon juice enemas anyone?). Doctors are pretty
much useless when it comes to this condition, in my experience. I have
talked to several and they shrug it off, more or less. I am going to
buy a blood sugar tester this week just to prove to myself (and my
doctor) that I really get low blood sugar.

  2. there are marathon running training to beat this. look into the pros
version my opinon if you can bare it. I know a daily log from me is
not so good...... butt if you want to read it fine or not is fine
too.... I am more into hiking biking now with running in my future
again soon as a recreation not a pro ways.........

basic it is this. on 3 stages.
when I was rec running my x boss got into this and of coarse 1 of a
many who never ran a mile butt can give marathon advise.

like he can work now i he can run like I can and me I can run butt can't
work. we both get by. I don't work or run and he don't work and make
    money......
    there are other ways......

    what you eat.
how you train past the wall.
    bear.
    and all variables.

most want to stop like me this past week.
butt the pros run thru it. and like in speed.they go pass the maxs.
once a week.. to increase there glyph. level....

what you are at might sound like the wall......in different stages. it
do not has to be at mile 17 to 19 in L S D styles... or ultra.....

change of diet. or just taking some time away and re booting self.....

this so call stage 2 is like a taking away of all gas to go in legs
and just all out breaker down......

the legs just won't go evan on a 1 or 2 mile run.........

the pros well speed work in short burst to re gas the goal so you can
re introduce the go gas to to your regular 25 to 70 miles per week.
or the ultra in long slow distance to get back to the longer slower
    distance.
or the 10% rule were each month you back down a week...butt in this
stage 2 you just have no go gas and you or me just back
    down.........I know total lost again.........

point is re introduce the go gas.in legs.

very hard and pain recover past the wall.
some meat to one person is bad meat to another. same as training.

look into this wall thing or the marathon way..evan ultra and a mile
or two a week got to have the go gas to run...... in your case the go
gas is storage bound and won't let you run........ untll rest time
heals and re gas is in the tank........
pros re introduces and finds way to call up reserves and speed un
    atained by regular traditional trains....
    I am not a pro.......

  3. in my case, sociey or the world only cares that I do not have my money
or work. so no matter what I do or say.they only care that I can't work
    or have any oney.
    The goverment won't help me.
    the lawyers won't help[ me
No body helps me. this has been going on for near 3 years.

they no I can live with I do.
I live better then most full time working people and I don't evan work.
    I am stoned.
    it is thru jesus. plan....
it is thru the holy spirt and holy goast.
    it is there plan.
and the people in this country.all they do is mke me dwner more....
I could do a zillion and all they say and care about.is I don't have
job and I don't have money.they stone me on a daily way for near 3
years......I can run ultras and they still won't see that I run
ultra...all they see is they have me tied thru there tax gater
ways......as long as I don't get.......is all they and probe you to can
    see......

in the bible........I rewad because my whole world wel not help me
    for 3 years.
    as I know....I am o.k.
    I am healthy
    I am smrt.
    I am strong

    I can't get a job or money because I m stoned.........
    like high lander.......
    I am marked as this...........

    they just laught at me.............

so I give up again and live..............

    what else is new......There [censored]..........
as the lord knows.......there is other things and apostals too other
    then the taxs gathers.............

they got me all tied up and well not help me ever...because thats what
they all our.......it is go gas.....for three whole way of
life..................and again. there is a whole natin of niger in
africa who are dieing...so why should I have a job.............and the
tax gathers can get there 90% and live because they are too.........and
    me I amstoned..........

It pains me to point this out but that website, like Google, is simply
a web-based interface to the newsgroup.

Therefore you may well be as wacky as the other guy.

Its an interesting interface that complies with my request (to Tom) to
remove my friends email within minutes of making it. Below is why I
    assumed Tom was behind it.

Walk into your bosses office, and DEMAND he let you spend at LEAST 4
hours out of eight on the NG. If he says no, punch him until he
    agrees. It's the scottish way....
