half-marathon in April and I'm looking for recommendations for a new
HRM/stopwatch.
Basic features I'm looking for are:
target zones
total time
lap time
average/max/target HR
distance/pace
I use an Apple iMac so I guess connectivity/software/download training
programs are not available (?)
Any advice gratefully received.

I too use Mac's as my computer choice.
For an HRM, I use a Polar S625X combined with MySportTraining and
MySportTraining Polar. I can download all data from the watch (which
includes all of your needs,) to my PDA. I just picked up this software,
so I am still figuring it out. It can give you a lot of info back,
including graphs. It keeps track of everything, not just running, but
for any sport. You can find it at <http://www.vidaone.com/> It's not
much good if you don't have a compatible PDA though.
I'm not connected with them at all - just a happy Mac user that can
find a way to keep track of my workouts.
