I worked from 5 am till 1130 am and then I was off to a
wedding res pool side. After that it was down the road 2 miles to
another party till 8 pm. Got my fill of music, food, rug rats and suds.
Was up at 330 am laundry time, newspaper,BBC America, and breakfast. Bike
loaded in rack and eating my pre ride snack of Gator Aid and Chunky. I
hit the over dry trail before the horses were unloaded, brushed, and
saddled. No horse [censored] on this ride. Nice ride and by the I pull up to
the car I hear the wife say load the bike were taking my parents out for
breakfast. So I have 2nd breakfast of a omlette loaded, toast and 2 large
beers. Hey its lunch time no life retired folk get up at 10 am and have
breakfast at 1030 or 11. So now I'm home and the wife is off to work in
an hour or so. I clean to homestead up and work on pulling these 2 male
and female Brooks saddles someone want to trade me for Sram X Generation
front derailleur,Selle Royal saddle,Sram chain and cassette. Those
saddles were to plush for me but that couple needs them. Well its
off to the salt mine in the am and the next day off is hump day.

have yet to do in my life. Pretty much hammered it the entire 18 miles.
It was awesome because the trail was in perfect condition. My only
disappointment was that somehow I pulled the helmetcam cable out of the
miniDV and got zero video. Ow well, maybe next time.I had one mishap where I was probably going about 15 mph when the right
end of the bar caught a tree. Laws of physics were confirmed. When the
bike stops, the rider continues. It must of thrown me about five or six
feet into the brush and then I see the bike follow behind and over me.
Front wheel hits the tree and now it's out of true. I finished the ride
though (kudos for disc brakes) and dropped the wheel off at the LBS. I
can do lots of bike stuff, but I am no good at truing.--

player. I figured early in the morning the trail would have very little
traffic to be concerned about.Fast, twisty ride on my wife's hardtail. Now I'm convinced I could never go
back to that from full-suspension. I finished rebuilding it last night and
decided to do an out of town loop using it. Flat bars are great for the
twisties but suck for hefting over fallen trees and rock gardens. I even
forgot to rise slightly out of the saddle on a gauge-out....ouch, nice shot
to the spine. I swear that saddle was more comfortable when it was on my
ride.Just when I was thinking the pain wasn't worth it, I checked the tires...she
had them pumped up past 40 PSI...spritz them down to 35 and the ride was
much better, and faster.Nice scenery, the singletrack ends by the Niagara Escarpment, some of the
best views in southern Ontario if you ask me!Now I'm off to watch "Hitch" with the wife.

Those

we met her at the "secret beach" with the little guy. A really lazy day
playing by the water with my wife, boy, and old dog. Nice, and I was
actually pretty tired afterwards.Today, Father's Day I get to do what ever I want. First I sleep in a
little. Sleep is good. Then The Mrs. makes me an omelette and I have it
out in the yard in a shady nice spot we have set up.
Then I got changed and pulled out the SS and road up past campus to the
closest dirt we have. Climbed the ridge and kept going. I spent four
hours making a big ~28 Mile ~3500 Ft. loop. I was a little worried about
cow damage and heat. The cow damage worry was unwarranted, but it was
hot (for here - probably high 80's - yes I know I'm a heat wuss). I had
to take a couple of extra breaks when shady areas when a breeze came
along. The trail was perfectly packed in some places. Almost like
pavement. Really fast and fun. I ended up pretty wiped but in a very
good way.
We grilled burgers and had some beer afterwards. Then I did the story
time honors. Perfect.Hope the rest of you dads had a great day too!

Pretty good thanks!
Sunday was the 3rd round of the Working Week Series (5 x 8 hour races) on some of the funnest single track around (Killingworth -
near Newcastle NSW Australia). 11 laps of the ~10km track for me, pretty glad to be soloing and not have to share the fun with
anyone else ;-)Parbs

Excellent.
I went with 3 others to the Karrimor trail in Wales (UK), rode a good
portion of it before cutting it short - first real offroad ride in
ages, 40kms was a bit much to start on - great trails, uphil on wide
flat tracks, downhill through purpose built singletrack including
really technical sections, jumps, drops, wet rooty stuff etc.
Unfortunately the temp was insane and it was about 88% humidity - which
wasnt nice to ride in. Had a great time though, really got me back
interested in riding again. Still not keen on the ups though. -
Nice!
We Went kayaking on the bay Saturday... Water is perfect had some great fun exploring...
It all went wrong when I pulled up someone's crab trap and found a lone trapped, inedible spider crab in there... I decided to help the bugger out when a small eel dropped from the trap into my boat... While I screamed and the eel flopped towards my shorts Carla paddled over to lend me her glove... I picked up the little bugger and before we threw him back to the ocean took a good look at him... Pretty cool little monster...
When we got back to the beach we took a nice swim...Sunday we met our buddy at this weird little abandoned playground and did a few hours of trials...
I actually learned something new...
We are both encouraged to keep practicingHope everyone had a great Father's day!

Wow, now that sounds like more of a good weekend than ours! Never had
an eel close-up, and only seen spider crabs from a distance thrown over
from fishing boats!Must get out on my trials bike soon, before it becomes something else i
'used to do'J

Drove to southern California to visit son and granddaughter number
two. Even got in a nice MTB around the camp the son works at. I was
a little disappointed in the "dirt" though - kind of like someone
covered all the trails with an inch of brown talcum powder - how DO
you get much bite in that stuff? I just took it relatively easy to
avoid coming home looking like a gingerbread man (think wet body
rolling through fine brown dust/dirt).Mark "don't wanna scare the yung'uns" Hickey

I spent my Saturday on a 42' truck/float in a small local carnival, dancing
like a madman and playing African Djembe patterns loud as hell in 90F heat -
it was a blast. Wedding do at night was fun too. I cannot remember much
about Sunday though...Shaun aRe - Mostly we just played Landamar and Mendi, sang Fanga too. Funny
how in the crowds, it's the little kids and the old folk who look like
they're having the most fun at these events eh?
