If your rucksack is like my 35L Karrimor, the 'squidgy lumpy thing' is a
pull-out rain cover. Pull it and see!

Good Grief, so it is. Thanks. Not sure why I didn't just pull it out
earlier, it appeared to be a vague bit of padding I suppose. Didn't even
realise this was a feature on rucksacks, but it has been a while since I
bought one.

Rolf..... I have such a cover on my 25-30 litre Regatta and discovered it
quite early on...there is no lump inside the rucksack though, it is nicely
hidden at the bottom of the sac. I did though buy one of those cheap Audi
hydration system rucksacks a little while ago and found a small lumpy thing
in the bottom of the bag. NOW I know what it is....thanks!

I just tried to get the cover out of my Karrimor and now there's a
bloody great tear in it. :-(

behind the bit of board that stiffens the back, but it seems rather
small for this purpose and would put a lot of pressure on the water
bag.

best order to adjust the four straps that adjust how the sack sits on

I have a Lowe Alpine Contour Crossbow 45 and the hydration fittings seem
similar to yours,except mine has an elasticated pocket in front of the
velcroed void for the hydration pouch ( well I presume that is what it is
for ).Fill the hydration bottle/pouch or whatever with your favourite
drink,attach tube,put it ' upside down ' in the pocket ( tube exit from the
pouch at the bottom ),feed the tube out of the H2O hole provided and attach
to a shoulder strap.Take a drink when desired.

Have to say it works rather well.

Hi Sam. Thank you for the comments, unfortunately I don't seem to have the
elasticated pocket on my Walkabout (unless you mean the void you get to
underneath the velcroed bit). I don't yet have a hydration system to try
out, but was thinking of getting one hence my interest in how it is
supposed to work on this sack before I buy one. I think I shall take your
advice and send an email to Lowe.
