bacon strips across it, followed by a layer of paper towel. If you're
cooking a lot of bacon, you can make successive layers of paper towel and
bacon, ending with paper towel. Allow 45-60 seconds per slice on high for
cooking. If it's not crisp enough, zap it again. The bacon slices will be
very flat and the paper towels will absorb the grease.--

catch the grease. He puts down a layer of paper towels, a layer of bacon
and repeats the layering process 2 times. I don't know how long he cooks
it for, but he checks several times to monitor the process. I comes out
nice and crispy but not too crispy. I like it.Michael

it works a treat. It's tilted slightly, with angular grooves in a "V"
configuration and a depression down the center, which allows the grease
to collect in a narrow tray at the bottom. It is the perfect thing for
bacon - much better than the paper-towel-covered-bacon-on-a-plate thing
that my friends do.N.

Other people on this ng have just mentioned ways to microwave bacon. I
thought they were talking about regular bacon. This is not the question you asked, but I'm wondering if baking bacon would
be a good way; either way, seems a like a lot of controllable/uncontrollable
spatter.Dee Dee

You mean 45-60 seconds per layer, not slice. -

2/3 of the way done. Then finish in the pan. You get the benefit of
flat strips and quicker cooking but retain the ability to finish it to
the exact stage of crispiness you like. -aem -

Only if you like raw bacon! There's no way a single "layer" of bacon
will get cooked properly in 45-60 seconds. 4 slices are still going
to take about 4 minutes. -
Fat absorbs microwave energy far more than water or protein. For regular
bacon, as several above, place each slice, not overlapping, on a paper
towel, cover with a paper towel, and microwave with power level of 3 or so
in a 700 watt oven, 2 min. for 2 slices, more as you do more slices at the
same time.
It's a great way to product crisp less fatty bacon for BLT's etc.
The most intelligent book I have seen on microwave cooking is Barbara
Kafka's "Microwave Gourmet." In fact it's the bible, the only book you will
need on the subject.Kent
