Okay, this might seem OT but it does involve Jell-O. I am doing a "Feely Box" for a kid's Halloween party at school. The story is about a mean witch who falls apart, piece by piece. I am supposed to bring in assorted foods to represent each piece she lost. The liver is to be made of Jell-O.
Now for some reason, I was thinking the liver was greenish, but I see in looking it up so I can carve it into the approx. size and shape, it is more of a brownish red. I already bought lime Jell-O. Do you think it would work to use it and add a bit of red food coloring to it to make it more brown? Or would it work better to buy red Jell-O and add a drop of green to make it slightly brownish?
It sounds silly but I'd like it to look at least somewhat realistic in case the kids actually see it. The object is to have the items hidden in the box, then have them feel it and guess what the item is.

I was under the impression it wasn't going to be eaten?
Either way, all you really want is for something to make it a solid colour rather than translucent, so rice milk would be fine, as would soy milk or etc.

It won't be eaten, but I would have to touch it to carve it. And I'm very allergic as is my daughter, who would also have to touch it. We get skin rashes when we touch food allergens.

Don't have the hand and wouldn't have a way to keep that frozen. But I will have the eyeballs, brain, intestines, tongue, teeth, and heart.

That's what I'm going to use. Got a really severe egg allergy so I can't do that either. I have to have someone else make the pasta for me. Daughter won't be able to touch that because she's allergic.

If the kids are going to be handling it, you might want to make it the firmer consistency of jello jigglers, rather than regular jello, so it doesn't fall apart.
