  1. Ok-We're at the starting gate for 2004. Here's my strategy for SUCCESS!

    1. Mindset-Become MORE aware of how I'm in a lifestyle and season of change-Your mindset can change
with each decision you make to be successful at every turn.

    2. Involve others-There's NO WAY I can do this alone. I need accountability and others to be
    supportive.

    3. MASTERCOOK-The best software to gather those recipes, plan out your week in advance, make that
grocery list to stick to, and to help store POINT values for recipes. It will also help save
money have having that grocery list so you don't re-buy what you already have. There are
numerous website/groups you can download recipes from that are POINTed and free! The software
    can be found at www.valusoft.com

    4. Get Moving-Take a walk. It's the cheapest exercise and may be a great way to meet your
neighbors. The mall is a great place to walk-and it's free air conditioning in the summertime 🙂

    5. Drink that Water-This is a core struggle for me, but I will take on the challenge. I lost more
regularly when I drink it, so Here's to Me-gulp, gulp, gulp!

    6. This newsgroup-This group is so valuable for support, recipes and those questions you may not
want to ask at meetings. Thanks to all who make it a better place here

    7. Meetings-This is a great way to hold yourself accountable-by going in and letting others help.
This is also where you can find the items on the sales shelf to help-measuring scoops,
    cookbooks, WW bars, diaries, etc.

    8. WW Cookbooks/Magazine-Many of the recipes I use over and over come from these two sources. I
found 3 WW books with a total value of $70 at Half price books yesterday-paid $15 for all three
of them-and they have POINT values in them.

    9. Map out a plan-Sit down and map out each week-plan your food, exercise, water and TIME. Keeping
busy is a great way to turn from having food on the brain all the time-one of my struggles.
Before you go out to eat, know what you're going to get and have it Pre-POINTED.

    10. The Internet-There are so many WW tools available online-POINT counters, Recipe Sites, Support
sites(Dotti's is the BOMB!), Restaurant POINTs that help make it easier, EBAY to find those
books and WW resources online. You can even do WWonline at the WW website.

    11. Kitchen gadgets-WW's recipes sometimes have you do funny things with food, so why not invest in
a food processor or Pasta Pot with built-in drainer, or juicer,or food chopper, etc.

12 Frozen Items-I love the WW desserts-they're easy to make, cheap, and satisfy my sweet tooth. I
leave a few Lean Cuisines for those times I don't have time to cook or need to complete my POINTS at
    the end of the day.

    12. Emergency snacks-I keep a (can of soup, pkg of oatmeal, Rice Krispies Treat, etc) in my desk
drawer at work for those times I need a fix without spending alot of POINTS. So far, the soup
    can is still there!

    13. VEGGIES-Incorporate veggies into your meals. I tend to feel MUCH fuller when I add broccoli to
my mac & cheese or add Lettuce/Tomatoes to my sandwiches.

15 POINT Guide/Companion-Thanks to Dotti's Website, I have all the restaurants in my Pocket PC for
those last minute rushes to lunch or the "What's for Dinner while we're out?" scenario. I highly
recommend keeping a Dining Out companion in your car for easy reference.

That's all I can think of-I look forward to hearing how you all are gearing up for a GREAT 2004!

  3. sounds like you have it covered, Water is a major struggle for me but it is
worth the struggle as I do lose better when having enough water. I carry a
snack bag in the car with a variety of items so it cuts down on fast food
stops. I also one who believes in a huge pot of zero point vegetables
cooked and waiting in the frige. we cook them with no spices so we can
change the flavor every time we eat if we want, Lee

  5. Thanks for posting this - it's a keeper 🙂

Planning my meals for the week has got to be the most important step for me. If I plan to eat at
least 5 fruits and vegetables each day and make myself do it, I feel so much better and have a much
    easier time staying on program.

I like the idea of having emergency snacks on hand and will put those on the shopping list.

Also, exercise is very important for me. I lose weight without it, but it is so much easier when I
do just 20-30 minutes a day of something, even just walking.

Seems you covered everything! I would maybe add the chant I use to deal with cravings, "I won't eat
it right now, maybe later if I still want it", at which time I use the chant again 😉
