  1. Hi.
I've started drinking more on rides.
A good idea untill...the call of nature. Fine if I'm riding by myself and it's the countryside(or petrol station) and I can relieve myself but what if not, or in a group, or a race...

I realise(and experience all the time) the parasympathic nervous system turning off my water works(I have done lots of racing) - but sometimes, to quote Forrest Gump "I gotta go pee!!":o

Partly I would like to know for a friend who's about to do a 160 kms race/ride(the Round Lake Taupo) and it'll probably take him about 6 hours. We've been working on his food/fluid intake. But what about the outgoings, especially if he's in a good bunch he wants to stay with.

    So, what's the solution?

Well, it seems there is no solution BNB, besides tying a knot in it.😄 Tyson

Here in Japan it isn't a problem, as you'll often see guys (not cyclists) watering the roadside vegetation. So when I go on a long ride and nature calls, I just let it all hang out.😄

  3. Hang it out on a downhill.

    Practice this first.

  4. I have seen guys pull it out in the bunch and go off the side. I have even noticed yellow liquid quietly running down the inside leg of the guy in front. This sort of extreme call of nature usually occurs in very important races where a stop would wreck any chance of success.

    I had(not often:o ) wondered about guys(not girls) having to do this.

He's got to weigh up hydration vs bladder capacity/control. Glad I don't do races of this length🙂

  6. Just have your local ER put in a catheter...drain it out your shorts and down your downtube...you are set...😄

  7. In a long race for guys (and girls even more so) the pee breaks are usually agreed upon by the group -everyone takes one at the same time - no cheating and attacking when everyones on a nature break. Then again there are some situations where you'll just have to hold it.....or not.

Sounds like a good idea - until rust is mentioned:o

    And don't wear bib shorts

  10. Save it for the final sprint. It will keep everyone from passing you🙂

You should ride up and tell him that he is under-hydrating himself. He should keep his pee's colour light. 😉

Nay, too undignified. Just go to a surgical supply store and order a urodome with or without an urine bag that can be strapped around your thigh or elsewhere. Put it on yourself and release at will. Non-invasive and no risk of trauma and infection if used sensibly. 😎

Good point on the infection, not to mention getting the catheter caught in your front sprocket, then pulling a golf ball through a straw...

It may actually make you ride faster... Super fast!!! 😄

Consider that as a single use super charger when you are 100m from the finish line.
