soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what
would be an unwinnable urban guerilla war, it could only plunge that part of the world into ever
greater instability." George Bush Sr. in his 1998 book "A World Transformed"

  2. That's truly heartwarming. I also like how a 12 year old can write better than 90% of the adults
    on usenet.

  3. It doesn't do me any good to see something like "How precious" which comes off as sounding
    pretty sardonic.

My 12 year old stepdaughter started riding with me and eventually graduated to racing. She ended up
getting a silver medal in the Jr. Olympics and finished 12th in the nation in her class. I couldn't
get her to train at all so I just took her out on rides. I remember once when she and her sister
were stopped on the side of the road and some guy who happened by and I rode by them at 28 mph in a
pace line. The other guy took a long pull then rolled off. I took a long pull to let him rest a
little and as I rolled off the two girls were on my wheel and the other guy had fallen off the pace.
If I could have gotten those two girls to be serious about cycling they would have been world class.

I never enjoyed life so much as when I was out with my two or three stepdaughters.

Juvenile diabetes doesn't have a real good prognosis and I can only hope that she lives a full and
    healthy life.

Hey, that's just me. Sarcasm requires understanding. There's room for being touched by a nice story
while giving it the slightly crude treatment appropriate for r.b.r.

  11. Maybe a 12 year old from your school, you obviously have trouble distinguishing boys from girls.

    Dumbass -

Perhaps, but there are very smart 12 year olds out there who can likely write better than
    most adults.

One of those lives in my neighborhood. Tutors other kids in math, sings the national anthem at
professional sporting events, speaks very eloquently, likes hanging out with adults better because
kids bore him. Probably one or two of those in every school. As far as I can tell, the kid is quite
a bit smarter than his dad or the lady they're living with.

Hmmm. In the UK, 12-year-olds write like this: (Note: Not the same George...)
    <http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1087591,00.html>

    "Dear George,

I would just like to say how much I hate you. You have done nothing positive in your whole time as
president. You are the reason for the poverty in the Middle East. You have no idea what you are
doing. You're killing loads of people, and that is not excluding your own nation too. There are
still lots of very poor people in America, and they are getting poorer.

You keep making excuses about Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden, but all you were in Iraq for was
the oil. Saddam had been there for 30 years, so why is it only now you decided to act? You keep
talking about September 11 when all you do is bomb other countries and give Israel lots of money. It
is a very bad idea that you have come over here.

I don't want to grow up in a country which is so influenced by you and your policies. Mickey (12)"

Sorry. I was still confused whether Carl was referring to a 12" Mickey or a 12 second one.
