I am a sixteen year old male who is 5'10" and weighs about 149. I know that you want to have an excellent power-weight ratio when biking and that will help a lot especially when you climb (my favorite thing to do). So how much weight loss is healthy for a person of my build? Keep in mind I would be doing it healthily, eating the right foods, and exercising the right amount.

Everyone varies because of body composition. There are charts that depict ranges of weight but only someone with some professional training can give you your recommended weight.

It's like asking "how long is a piece of string"...Ideal weight varies from person to person but if you want to go uphills fast you have two main variables - power and weight, so even if you do get the weight as low as you can go without losing power or becoming "unhealthy" and getting sick more frequently then you can always just concentrate on the 'adding power' part of the equation. Keeping a detailed training diary will help you look back and see what training you have done, how your weight responds to the training and diet and if you also keep track of when you get sick then you may see a pattern forming if you continually take things a little too far.
149lbs isn't particularly light for 16 year old that's 5'10. Depending on your build, you may never be spectacularly light.
Sometimes "healthy" isn't part of the sport. Doing things healthily oftens doesn't fit in with those long, effing hard sessions at the end of winter where you're out for many hours in the crappy weather riding roads filled with mud/cow sh1t and riding hard and you're doing your best to find the fine line between getting the best use of training time but not crossing the line and overdoing it and not recovering properly between sessions.
Go race. Go have some fun. If there's a local bike team that has a junior team then even better. If you're new to the sport then don't get too fixated on specific goals at this point, try it all and see how you do.

Yea! I have been racing and having fun. I also am on my local shop's (where I work) race team and it has been super fun! I just enjoy setting goals and working hard to get towards them. Thank you for your advice! It makes sense and is very helpful! -

Thank you. When do you plan on starting your spamming? -
Even with a good diet, too low on body fat and storing fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E, others) could become an issue - extended periods under 5-6% body fat.
Plus you may stop getting your period -
At 16 years old I was eating Suzy Q's, McDonalds and ice cream. I was playing Varsity Football, Baseball and winter track. I was having fun. At 149 lbs and being active cycling you should not be worried about dieting. Have some fun and enjoy your youth.

A safe amount of weight to lose is 1 to 2 lb. per week.Your total healthy weight loss amount is dependent on your weight when you begin your program. If your BMI is under 18.5, you are underweight. A BMI between 19 and 24.9 is normal and healthy. If your BMI is greater than 25 but under 30, you are overweight. A BMI above 30 is obese.
The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to change your lifestyle. Incorporate a healthy, calorie-controlled diet in combination with regular exercise. If you can reduce your calories by just 500 per day, you can begin to lose 1 lb. per week. Physical activity should be a major part of this because it burns fat and counts toward your caloric deficit. Try to accumulate 150 minutes of regular exercise per week for weight control. -
Your ideal weight is a personal factor. Generally ideal weight is calculated by using your height. But age is also affecting your ideal weight ratio. Also your physical health, lifestyle, family medical history is important to decide your ideal weight. For example, if your family members have diabetes or high blood pressure, you should limit your weight. So the best thing is to meet your family doctor and get advice.

If your weight is a balancing act, but the equation is simple: If you eat more calories than you burn then you gain weight. If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight.
Since 3,500 calories equals about 1 pound of fat, if you cut 500 calories from your typical diet each day, you'll lose approximately 1 pound a week (500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories). Simple, right? So why is weight loss so hard?
All too often, we make weight loss much more difficult than it needs to be with extreme diets that leave us cranky and starving, unhealthy lifestyle choices that undermine our dieting efforts, and emotional eating habits that stop us before we get started. But there’s a better way! You can lose weight without feeling miserable. By making smart choices every day, you can develop new eating habits and preferences that will leave you feeling satisfied—and all while winning the battle of the bulge. -
I thinks the Weight is must be lose according to the height and age ,.

Your right, but the right body weight is different for different people even if their heights are exactly the same, that's the error of putting to much emphasis on BMI calculators. There are other factors like age, as you stated, but the size of your bones too which the BMI science doesn't even address. Nor does BMI address someone who has more muscle mass which weighs more then fat.So read these sites to get a closer idea of proper weight:
ehow.comhow 5168157 measure size see big boned.htmlOpen ↗
healthchecksystems.comheightweightchart.htmOpen ↗
gain-weight-muscle-fast.comlean body mass.htmlOpen ↗Once you start seeing the varables it throws the BMI out the window as an accurate test, it's good for an average test meaning average bones and average muscle...again though what kind of average are they basing their calculations on? A person of average bone with little muscle mass since most people don't have much muscle mass?

The 500 deficit can be achieved in various ways
1. Reduce ingested calories by 500 per day = 1lb a week
2. On training days keep Cals the same but increase effort to equal 500 or more cals.
3. A combination of 1 and 2 (my fav)Losing weight is not hard, ingesting the correct balance and timing of nutrition is : ie protein (3 types), Carbs (3 types), fats, etc. I would say the average person should never feel starving or cranky when dropping their BF% - Keeping the blood sugars level is key
The questions:
What body fat % do you want to be or need to be (tBF%)?
What are you now (cBF%)? this should = the amount of fat to lose (tBF%-cBF% = nBF% to lose).
When do you wan to lose it for? = Duration for fat loss.
In turn dictates how much to lose per per day or week (imo easier weekly goal, as days could fluctuate - aim for weekly average) - hopefully this is approx 500 (could be higher!)
Set a target/goal and work backwards - decomposing each problem to a set of tasks resulting in attaining overall goal..Like zoey said, "small steps"

149 lbs is not 80kg, it's closer to 67kg.
At 17, and a height of 5'9" I weighed about 170lbs (77kg) at 8% body fat after "cutting weight". I worked out a lot.
Your chart would have me loosing even more weight, from where I'm not sure. I was all veins and striations back then.

That can't be determined from the information in this thread alone. There are way too many unknown parameters to conclude what Sunny44's maximum ideal weight is.
