  1. I run every second day for about 4 kms. I'd like to run a lot more but
I seem to hurt a bit. Does age really constrain you as to how much you
    can do?

12km a week is not high mileage. With a bit of patience, you should be able
to build up to a lot more than that. The competitive 40+ year old runners I
know are doing between 30 and 100 miles a week, and most of those in the
lower end of that range could do more if they had the time and desire to do
    so.

I'd say the key at this stage is to run at an easy pace. Don't run so hard
that you're sucking wind, run at "conversational pace" -- you should be able
to chat or sing to yourself while you're running. Gradually increase your
training load -- I did mention 30 miles a week, but that doesn't mean you
should try and run 30 miles next week. Gradually build it up.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,

  3. Donovan,
Serious question: why do you keep replying to this troll? You seem to
be the only one left still doing so.

  4. Thanks🙂 I really appreciate it.I started running in april and ramped
up too fast and got groin injury that put me out of commisson for 6
weeks. I feel a slight pain in my left groin and my calves feel a
little sore when i start running so i have been holding back for fear
of getting injured. I guess I am just being paranoid. my pulse peaks at
about 164. I feel like i am just warmed up after 4 kms and then i have
to quit for fear of injury.

You should, he's the only who'll still reply to you. However that being
said, a [censored] or two will now answer you because I said they wouldn't,
but that's spite, not because they want to give you advice.

Why ask? You've got what, about 35 years to go to reach 40? At least
    judging by your posts...

Aw that's cute, it perked the lil' guy right up! Maybe he can stop
    posting on alt.depression now LOLOLOL

  8. Yes, only the young do not think so.

However, you should be able to run that distance more than every other day
    unless you are just starting.

i think he doesn't read the posters name all the time.
but, you know, for a troll, he does try very
hard to remain inoffensive. and acting stupid, but
not TOO stupid, will sometimes pull th sympathy vote.

That's right, I missed his name. I don't have him killfiled because I use
killfiles very sparingly, besides, sometimes he's actually quite funny. He
(gty) has that rare talent of being able to balance on the fine line between
    "village idiot" and "troll".
