The man who founded the Vegan Society just died--
at age 95! Maybe a plant-based diet might be okay
after all, huh? Of course, one swallow doesn't make
a summer.

He founded the Vegan society in 1944. 61 years ago. Is there any
evidence that he actually followed a vegan diet all this time? Highly
unlikely.

Dr. Walford's 120 year diet appears to me to be heavily vegetarian if not at
times vegan. There are parts of the Mediterranean area (remember the
benefits of the Mediterranean diet?) where people follow a largely
vegetarian if not outright vegan diet. When living in Egypt I never quite
warmed up to a breakfast of foul madamas (long cooked beans), pita bread,
fresh fruit and dates if I could get eggs fried in butter, beef (of course)
sausage and buttered toast or to falafel for lunch when I could cook up some
burgers instead. Even a lot of people in the old South ate a mostly vegan
diet. I remember being in southern Middle Tennessee. A friend told me that
they had asparagas for dinner last night, right out of the garden. I said
that was wonderful. I asked what the main dish was. He told me that was
the only dish. He reminded me that lots of people grew up eating beans and
veggies and things from the root cellar because they didn't have
refrigeration.

A typical cheap TC shot. I think you are an under-the-table shill for
the beef industry and the Atkins goon squad. IMO, highly likely.
Prove me wrong but like the position you always take, I don't believe a
word you say. I catchy catch-22. How do you like your rationale applied
to you? You're such a goof ball troll.

Hey, sometimes people stick their necks out, like this vegan guy, then
he finds that it isn't workable and rather than admit to the world that
he was wrong, he just goes thru the motions publicly. It happens. And
some guys are just that stubborn.

Wow, TC.... you sound more and more desperate all the time.
You have absolutely no evidence whatsoever that what you say is true,
yet you say it anyway. Truly pathetic.
Do us a favor and provide us a with a list of ultra-high-protien
low-carbers who have reached the age of 95.
On second thought.... don't. You tend to lie an awful lot, so don't
bother, troll.
And by the way.... is there any evidence that you practice the diet
that you preach? See, sometimes people stick their necks out, like
yourself, then realize that your diet isn't workable and rather than
admit to the world that they were wrong, they just go thru the motions
publicly. It happens. And some guys are just that stubborn.

If meatless, dairyless diets are so dangerous,
this guy should have died long ago, because he
started the Vegan Society 61 years ago, and he
was a vegan for years before then.
I wonder, though, how much longer he would
have lived if he had eaten fatty fish a couple
of times a week. We sent him some fish oil
capsules for his 90th birthday but he never
acknowledged taking any. He was known to
be a purist.

My point was that you do not know whether or not he actually adhered to
a vegan diet or not. And my point is still valid.

Using your reasoning, Dr. Atkins may well have been a closet vegan.
How can we know for sure, right?
Your point is, as usual, moot.

He wrote a book, the diet works, and he was thin and healthy. That is
evidence enough, isn't it?

If by "book" you meant "for-profit schlock",
and if by "the diet works" you meant "for the short term only",
and if by "thin and healthy" you meant "fat and dead"
then... I guess you're right!!
And wasn't Atkins 95 when he died, too??? Oh, wait a minute....

Now you are just making things up and being very nasty about it. All I
did was ask a valid question.

Actually, your point/questions are still moot.
Anyways, I responded by saying that, based on your reasoning, Atkins
may well have advocated one diet and practiced another.

That may well be. But we still don't know if the "vegan" founder
actually ate vegan.
TC
You seem to be desperately trying to make a point, but have yet to do
so.

That won't do him any good remember? Unless they have been an
ultra-high-protien low-carber since birth it is meaningless.

Typical TC trolling providing another red herring as you can't prove
a negative. I don't know if he has figured that out yet. Of course it
us up to use to prove he followed a vegan diet not for TC to prove
that he didn't. Tell us why he wouldn't? I know why Atkins might not
as he had the whole corporate empire thing. Guess what know one had
followed a single diet from birth.

You NEVER ask, you make statements that are usually baseless and
unprovable.

So come on then, Einstein: tell us how Atkins' death was brought about by
his diet.
Well? We're waiting...

A PETA-PCRM coalition murdered him.
