I would almost agree, but they have been known to give outrageous advice that for a newcomer who
might not know it was totally wrong, could lead to serious damage. They are immature and disrupt the
flow of the conversations. Like all trolls they discourage people from using the NG. It is only a
matter of degree. It is the same grade school humor as other trolls have.

Joe, our "thinning of the herd" is a good thing. Do you really want a bunch of thin-skinned wussies
here? We're doing you a favor. Name some "outrageous advice" that was given that wasn't an obvious
troll? Telling someone to "go run 20 miles on that injured knee" is obviously troll stuff, and
nobodys dumb enough to read it. Of course we also have the RR safety net which consists of
"concerned netizens" like yourself who pepper every newcomer with warning messages. The last legit
email I used three of you wrote me "warning of the evil trolls".

I may have found a couple posts amusing at some time, but the shear volume they have presented puts
their signal to noise near zero.

I would agree with you if someone took newsgroup advices as reliable. They should not. Advices from
newsgroups should be taken as opinions, each one must be evaluated for its veracity. They are
nonetheless useful when someone explores a new area.

some women in her driveway laughed at my being short of breathe. That bothered me a bit because I
believe that she violated certain social decorums. In a newsgroup with its anonymity, there really
