Reminds me of working in a Skipper's restaurant 24 - 25 years ago. A new
female food server was a real go-getter, hoping to eventually make her way
up the corporate ladder to the exalted position of shift manager. In
addition to truly working hard, she also flirted outrageously with the
married General Manager.

One day the restaurant was having one of those precious few minutes when
there were actually no customers in the building, so the GM used that time
to call us all together and make an announcement. Basically he complimented
Miss Flirt on her excellent work performance and asked her if she would
consider taking the newly created position of Head Waitress. Flirt was
extremely happy, clapping hands and jumping up and down. Then she turned
briefly to the rest of the servers and shot us a well-crafted "eat [censored]"
look before turning back to Mr. GM and trilling ecstatically that she'd love
the position and would be the best Head Waitress he'd ever seen.

GM looked gravely at her for a moment, then nodded and said, "OK, you're it.
You can pick up your kneepads in the office." I'll give her credit, as
disappointed as she was when she finally realized the joke, she *did* laugh.
Later on, she got back at him, but that's another story.

watching it and she was sauteeing some vegetables in an obviously non-
stick pan, and she was SCRAPING this teflon pan with metal spatulas
and using a metal whisk to blend things in it.

Now I don't know about you, but I don't let any metal utensils get
anywhere NEAR my teflon pans............ heck, that stuff can scrape
right off into the food.

use metal utensils on/in.

much bullet proof and don't flake off like the cheaper brands, but
they are still prone to scratching by metal utensils. The fact is,

teflon slick cooking surface you are paying good money for, so why mar
that surface unnecessarily. Bottom line, use wood or plastic utensils
regardless of what they claim. They just say that because they want
you to wear out that non-stick surface sooner so you'll have to buy a

I don't think that companies which make expensive high quality non stick
surface pans really want people to wreck them in order to sell more. Given
the cost of the those pans, not too many people are interested in putting
out the big bucks to replace something that have failed them in the past.
