  1. So weve got a bunch of self-proclaimed endurance experts around here, but Im still waiting for someone to explain how body composition actually affects Zone 2 efficiency. I mean, we all know that being a skinny, wiry climber is supposed to be beneficial for endurance, but what about when it comes to actual Zone 2 efficiency? Is having a low body fat percentage really the key to optimizing your endurance, or is it just a bunch of hype?

    And while were on the topic, what about muscle mass? Does having more muscle mass actually help with endurance, or does it just make you slower and more prone to cramping? Ive seen some guys around here who are essentially just skeletons on bikes, but they seem to be able to crank out 200 miles a week without breaking a sweat. Meanwhile, Ive got a decent amount of muscle mass and Im stuck dealing with cramps and fatigue on anything over 50 miles. Whats the deal with that?
