Cyclists are the biggest menace? Biggest menace???? He/she must mean me. I am 188cm and 110kg and I ride a bike. I suppose that makes me bigger than most of the other menaces on bikes. But biggest menace in an absolute sense? When I take on a 2 tonne 4WD? Fool!!!!

What about those cars that are too short to see in traffic? Like R Banks' little Mini Cooper S?? What a menace!! They should be required to have a bendy flag on them like recumbents often have.

There's some pretty shocking comments in that "story".. One has to
wonder, if those arguments are valid then what about the poor monster
truck drivers? I mean monster trucks are only lethal if you do the
wrong thing as well and if I want to it should be my God given right to
drive one of those things...

Hey, it's not for no reason that all those signs warning drivers of old people and kids are around. They can really mess with the duco. Dangerous, the lot of them. :eek:

Frankly, if someone is scared of cyclists when they are driving i think they should rethink the whole idea of leaving home in the morning.

Bicycles used to be licenced in WA, but not their operators.

Yay! Another lurker breaks cover. Of course there's no sense to these
debates; we're simultaneously preaching to the choir and feeding the trolls.
It's all very cathartic though. It's a pity that the trolls never actually
respond to reasoned debate though...address their "argument" point by point

Yeah, I can visualise R Banks daily reaction to cyclists. Facial twitching, freaks out, and then attempts to stand on the drivers seat & scream his [censored] off. Thus creating a accident. Actually quite rational motorist behaviour.

I suppose you're right this 4WD debate in particular just seems to
frustrate people, including myself. At the end of the day I suppose it
is the nature of Usenet, a collection of discussions where we can share
information about a joint interest and pat each other's backs whenever

suggest a ride through the 'burbs terrorising a few BMW X5 and Porsche
