Yup. Hot dogs are perfect for a vending wagon or trailer type of setup. You
don't need a brick and mortar store with its attendent overhead. Nothings
better than having the mobility to go where the customers are.

I would love to see a hot dog stand sell the Hebrew National 97% fat
free dogs, grilled. I love hot dogs, but the typical hot dog is loaded
with fat, so I generally avoid eating hot dogs unless I cook them myself.

All beef natural casing in steamed bun, topped with our famous meatless
chili, if it's not Koegel forget it.

Here in suburbs of Detroit you can't even get a bank loan to open up any
type of restaurant, doesn't matter if it's a 5 star or a coney island
restaurant that is popular here.

Restaurants that have been popular for decades are going under at a fast
rate because of the economy.

I knew a family who have been in the business for decades & wanted to
upgrade the business was denied a loan based on that reason.

My point was that asking people on usenet wouldn't be very useful in the
decision to open a hot dog restaurant, and the TV program referenced above
gives examples of many different types of hot dogs, cooking methods, and
regional preferences. Plus, it's entertaining.
I won't eat hot dogs with natural casings or that contain mechanically
separated meat products. Other than that, they're all good.

Pork.

You can't really get pork dogs skinless anymore, so that's a moot
point.

My preference is for steamed.

I just checked in after months away and agree completely with
zxcvbob. Beef & Pork with natural casings is my choice.

I like the crunch of the natural casing and the flavor of the meat.
Go with what you like and promote it with enthusiasm.
