New hub fitted and working. On the advice of t'committee I went for the Hope, which is a bit tight
in the dropouts (no thread on the axle) but seems smooth and quiet.

If you wanted to give you new wheel a name, you could call it Obi-Wan, after all it is Your
Only Hope.

Apparently they have a chunkier freewheel/pawl design than ShimaNO as well so should be less likely
to fail after a lot of hammering. Reports on them needing to be "worn in" seem alarming, though.

I haven't a clue! Imagine. Not very shrewd of me I know, but I let the bike shop bloke choose the
appropriate model. It's a disc brake version.

Not bad value - cheapest hope at wiggle is 85 quid, so 15 for new spokes/build is pretty good.
Still, XT should have come in at about half that, which isn't really 'not much more' :-)
(Whether the extra price is worth it is a different point - I hope it was for us since we destroyed
an XT freehub quite quickly, but that was on a tandem)
