I follow a Paleolithic diet and mine is 6.5. I eat ample meat, lots of eggs, fish and fruit,
and only a fair amount of vegetables. But no grains, beans, potatoes, dairy, or other
    Neolithic foods.

Do you buy your meat at the local store? Is it the normal kind or free-range, grass-fed type?

At home I mostly eat fish and buy from a fisherman. I buy free-range chicken and chicken livers from
a farmer. I order pasture-fed bison to make pemmican. Other meat is what I get at work or the
Pakistani takeout. It would be ordinary meat.

I eat a lot of eggs. Like the chicken they are truly free range. And in addition to chicken feed
    they eat bugs and grass.

Did you have any adverse affect to diary before you removing it from your diet?

Allergies. The biggest benefit to going dairy-free is the dramatic reduction in airborne allergies,
like hay fever. I also used to get asthma from cats. I avoid them, so I don't know if I still do.
    But I suspect not.

The other benefit people could have could be a reduction of symptoms on the autistic spectrum. Such
    as a reduction in shyness.

What caused you to go to a neolithic diet? What positive/negative changes did you observe?

A Neolithic diet? I'm not on a Neolithic diet. I'm on a Paleolithic diet. Very, very different.

First, I have no choice in being gluten-free, as I have celiac disease. I went for the diet as a
preventive measure against all the diseases of civilization that we now die from. In the past, those
that didn't die from some accident or infectious disease died peacefully in their sleep. Now most
people die of some disease of civilization. E.g. all autoimmune diseases, cancer, dementia, strokes,
cholesterol problems, heart problems, obesity, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, etc.

down below 10 mcmol/l in a natural way?

Increase folate intake, eg. eating more green vegetables and green salad.

I eat this with every meal .So this is not always a garantee. Anyway

    thanks.

Maybe I have to try the folate pills together with B6 and B12.

Not folate pills rather folic acid pills. Folate and folic acid aren't quite the same thing as one
is a bound form and the latter a free form. The latter is superior to the former as even in older
persons with impaired absorption due meds or pathology it is absorbed. It is an instance in which
the synthetic is clearly superior to the natural.

You say 'you may have to try'..??.... You're a little slow off the start line, IMO!! Oh well, you
are within the reference range so perhaps you should let nature take it's course?

  4. folate is the best way to lower HCY, other b-vitamins are weaker compared to this (though the reason
for this is not clear.. errr.. to
    me.)

another reason to take it is check out aje.oupjournals.org760

above study finds folate mediates the risk of heavy alcohol on chronic disease This might be related
to HCY. The mediation is not surprising since there have been studies showing that it might mediate
the effect of alcohol on breast cancer.. Also a large study that found it prevented Skin Cancer,
which is the type of cancer that affects the most number of people (malignant skin is more likely to
be detected than say internal tumors i guess), so you have more subjects whereas other cancers you
will have much less cases to find even when sampling thousands..

It always good to take all the B's. How much folic acid to take? I take 6 milligrams per day. Could
you get by with less...likely. I wouldn't take less than one milligram. Some of this isn't fresh in
my head...but some need larger doses of folic acid to achieve best biochemical efficiency. I would
not take less than 10 milligrams and not over 100 to 150 milligrams of B-6. It has been suggested
that the liver can only process about 30 milligrams per dose.. .....I suspect this is per
    meal.....not per day.

To be on the safe side, I wouldn't take less the a 1000 micrograms of b-12 per day. This is in case,
you have impaired b-12 uptake due to a lack of intrinic factor or a low acid stomach. High levels of
free synthetic B-12 are able to maintain B-12 levels in such instances. This is important lest high
folic acid levels mask a b-12 shortage. It is a very good rule always to be very very generous with
the b-12 supplements with a high folate diet or high folic acid regimen.

I take my B-12 separate from vitamin C. Some claim it denatures b-12 to a inactive analog. I take a
    2 milligram b-12 at bedtime.

    In My Opinion......standard usenet shorthand.

I was being a bit of smart ass, I suppose. Also, I was also pointing out that your reading is just a
high normal. I guess I need to look up the levels of homocysteine that are considered to of concern.
If memory serves, those with a problem often have levels well above the range.
