Leipheimer in Ferrari hotel German press agency dpa has reported that Gerolsteiner team manager Hans-Michael Holczer had confirmed information according to which his Tour de France leader, American Levi Leipheimer, had possible contacts with controversial preparatore Michele Ferrari. At the start of stage five in Beauvais, Holczer admitted that Leipheimer had stayed in the same hotel during a training camp on Spanish island Tenerife last year. "But he assured me once again that he isn't working with the Italian," said Holczer.
He must be doping! He knows who Ferrari is and stayed in the same hotel. Hang the guilty [censored]!!!
I stayed at the Platterhof several times, even have photos on the same overlook as the famous [censored] photo, HOLY [censored] I must be a Nazi. Great thing that the Nurenburg Trials would violate the Geneva convention. Guess I'm safe now. Bill C

It appears to be a straight factual report. Maybe Ferrari was there to help Odessa and was consulting with Dr. Fuentes about Odessa's gynecological problems, eh?

I'm shocked. You've hung around here all this time, and seemingly learned nothing.
It's all about the dog.

Isn't Leipheimer a Max Testa guy? I would be very surprised to see a guy who claims Max Testa as a coach to then be exposed as a Ferrari guy.
The "exposure" was not intentional on Levi's part. Levi was invited by a member of the Discovery team to come to the island for some good training before the Tour. He was told there would be some Discovery guys there, and Michael Rogers. Levi decided to go but he didn't know until after he arrived that Ferrari was also invited to be there. Levi did some training with the group of riders and refused Ferrari's "suggestions".
Today, T-Mobile told Michael Rogers to sever his ties with Ferrari.

What's the logic behind going all the way to the Canary Islands for a pre-Tour camp when they've got all of continental Europe at their disposal?
Oh right, are they significantly higher than any mountainous mainland training area? Like having easy access to roads and/or hotels above, say, 1500 m.
Or did you mean virtual altitude effects as provided by Fuentes et al.? Then I guess relative seclusion of the islands is another advantage.

There are hotels at the base of the Teide, at over 2000m of altitude. I assume riders stay there. There are more than 40 kms of road over 1900m at that area. Gradients mostly stay between 4% and 6%. Combined with good weather, those are ideal conditions for altitude training.

There you've got it from the hero of Toronto - Lafferty tells us that Levi is a doper. And who better to know than a dope?
