Holland, Netherland. Anyone been there?

Yes. An interesting trip. Best part was Texel and then the Eastern area,
which is amazingly empty.

Just some general comments (I've never been to the Holland):

Don't put down biking somewhere just because the terrain is flat. It
doesn't mean the scenery and places to visit are not enjoyable. And
don't think biking on the flats is always easy - I've run into headwinds
in flat places that have forced me into granny gear!

Don't forget Iceland. You won't be put off by any flatness there.

We just rode from Haarlem to Paris , very good no big hills untill in
France
We were a party of 6 adults and 3 kids aged 6,4,18 months 6 y old on
half bike other 2 in trek trailer
It was our 1st tour on bikes and Holland is built on bikes
750 kms in 20 days easy riding
Paris was not really pleasent for bike 2 much traffic

I've cycled in the Netherlands. It's flat, but it is so beautiful....and
bikes are a major form of transportation there, so the paths are good and
well marked. The entire country welcomes bikes at every restaurant and pub.
It's one of the densest countries on the planet, but there is a suprising
amount of beautiful country to ride through. Country and urban seem to
effortlessly mesh.

But make sure your bike is locked well when you're going inside. Theft of

I was watching some travel show about Amsterdam on the tube and they
said that half a million bikes were stolen in one year in Holland!

That's right.
There's another stat saying, that on average in Amsterdam, every bicycle
is stolen four times during its life span.

Which explains the junkie in the train station trying to sell me one of
those yellow loaner bikes. I wonder how many times they sell the same
"free" bike?

In Amsterdam, they say if you yell out into heavy bike traffic, "Hey! That's
my bike!" about four guys will jump off their rides and take off running.
