Not all newservers get posts immediately. Google, for instance.
Let people express their feelings on such a topic, flame-free. Now's not the time for petty
bickering. -

In many cases, there is a significant lag time between when an article is posted on a
Newsgroup, and when it appears. Thus, it was probably the case for all 10 original posts that
none of the other posts pertaining to the news of Pantani's death had appeared. I presume that
most people who posted the news had indeed read RBR before posting. Seeing no news, they went
ahead and posted. I posted the news (having not seen any notice regarding Pantani on RBR),
figuring that while it was likely that I would not end up being the first, it still made sense
to do so. If it turned out that I was the first, then the news would be shared with RBR readers
that much quicker. If it turned out that I wasn't, then only a few sanctimonious types would
find themselves vexed. Thanks for sharing, but observations such as yours, manifestly made in ignorance, might be
better off being kept to oneself. -

Lighten up a little please.
Anyone who knows anything about newsgroups will understand that there is never one definitive up to
date list of news items. For instance, I'm posting this via Google groups & it'll take several hours
to appear. If you are unhappy that people are wasting your time by posting duplicate notes on the same subject,
may I suggest that you ask yourself how useful your note was. And next time, think a little before
hitting send. -

to those who were offended.
