  1. I have recently started having a brand-new kind of pain: It's like a sciatic nerve pinch in my right buttock. Happens at different times when I sitting and walking, I have to stop and grimace when it happens, and I'm no sissy.

I never have the problem on the bike, and never when running. I can't imagine it being an actual structural problem (hernia or something), I'm convinced it's sports-related.

Since I recently added running to my activities, I am wondering if this could have something to do with cross-training, and womnder if someone could recommend excercise/stretches that would help keep things in line and working properly.

Any (ouch) help (ayyyeee) would be (ooohhh!) appreciated (@&!"@@&😉!

My suggestion would be to check with your medical practitioner to see if other patients who have had hip replacements suffer similar problems. New fangled materials may be causing rejection problems. 🙂

Veloflash - decades away from hip replacement

  3. You are a bona-fide dickwad, but thanks for the flack.

  4. Sorry, I forgot to add a smiley ;-)

Check with a massage therapist. Starting have same deal and ended up the muscle below my Gluteous (don't remember name, some "preforma" or somesuch) was tighter than all get out. 3 deep tissue massage sessions later (and a lot of screaming) and bye bye pain... never been back either

No problem. But I did think without that smiley I had lost your wise (grand) maternal counselling to guide me.

If I can be momentarily our of line and insubordinate to a precise person, I understand the correct pure spelling for "flack" is "flak."

    Veloflash - sans 🙂

  7. Pcs, yes I found a little info and it is something like the piriformis muscle that I have not been stretching enough. Actually I have not been doing appropriate runing tretches at all, it turns out...

So a friend showed me this morning a couple of stretches that have really helped, and I hope that will get things back on the right track. Sounds like a fairly common thing.

As for my dear, antagonistic friend, Velofalsh, you never had had the nuts to tell me your age, and I actually suspect you're older than I am...

Please excuse the mispelling of flak, my spelling has gone downhill ever since computers came out (on my 65th birthday).

Again, big ole smiley, chum... :-)

Sara, 35 (yes, I'll give my real name and age).
