Hincapie for Overall at TdF?

Yes it is appalling. It would have been much better to feature Landis, even Leipheimer. But I suppose they had to go with the American from the American team. Really silly.

All b/c LA annoited GH. Landis and Leipheimer will never get the coverage they deserve b/c the American press would prefer to have the story be about LA's "best-friend George." Ugh.

Oh, and no doubt: Hincapie will not ever win the Tour.

I really like Hincapie, but lets get real... of the American's with a snowball's chance in Hell of a podium on GC, Hincapie is not one of them. Why are so many Americans that in denial? I guess the French cycling press is talking up Thomas Voeckler for the GC too :p .

Hincapie is a very good rider. Why do we rally behind him?
He is popular,a lot of that due to his association with Lance. He has the apperance of a winner.
The same reason we elect public officials,more fluff than fact.
Not to take away from his talent as he does have some and it's not all fluff ,but he does project the personna that people gravitate to,like Voeckler.

The analogy to Voeckler was pointed to the stage he won after a lucky breakaway much like Hincapies win up the Pla d'Adet last year. Besides is Voeckler's wife even half as hot as Hincapie's? 😄

I wonder if points can be awarded for hottest wife or girlfriend and if so do your win a polka dot jersey for having the one with the biggest breasts.

I reckon both Landis and Leipheimer will beat Hincapie at the TdF. And Landis will probably beat Leipheimer this year because of the really long (and flat) TTs, + he seems to be on really good form.

Hincapie is on the cover because it is an American publication and sold mainly to Americans on the newstands. Hincapie is very popular and a good looking individual at that. His popularity exceeds that of Landis, Levi, and Julich by a long shot. They are in the business of selling magazines.

LOL. I remember thinking last year that Lance had the fame, the power, the victories and the money - but George was sleeping with the better looking woman.

As regards putting him on the cover - unfortunately Procycling has moved to the lowest common denominator in trying to maintain sales.
Pathetic.

I don't buy Procycling - I used get complimentary copies but gave up doing so when it became evident that Procycling was obsessed with Armstrong (in 12 issues during 2004 - Armstrong was on the cover for 8 monthly editions).

Procycling obviously feel that having Hincapie on the front is good for sales for a magazine written in english.
I think Procycling is mistaken.

We like George for at least one of the same reasons we like Jan...... It's the glasses man.

Having been brought up on a diet of Cycle Sport, Procycling comes a poor second.

Having said that CS has started to go "tabloid" too in the last 2 years or so.

Sorry Wilmar, I know this thread is about GH and TDF.... but I have to ask.

DS, they would not put Jan on the cover in the past because of his earring? Is this an unwritten rule for ProCyling or something ?
