hills in phoenix!

there is a town called Fountain Hills that is good for riding, lots of hills not that much traffic

Hey, i have to move back down to tempe for school in a couple of weeks and im really gonna miss the hills i have at home. So, im wondering if anybody is from the area and knows of any good hills no more than an hours drive or so..the closer the better! thanks!

What about the climb up south mountain? I havnt been up there in years so i dont really remember it.

Depends if you want hill or long climbs? If you want short steep power hills then try out Fountain Hills or Cave Creek. Just riding through Fountain Hills on Palisades will give you some good hills, but the steepest road is off the stop sign right by the high school (I believe it is Eagle's Nest road, or something like that) Take that for a little ways and you will get to an initial short climb (which is not bad) but the real beast is a little farther back (you will know it when you see it.)

The best long climb near the valley is the climb coming out of Bartlett Lake. If you don't know where that is, post and I will give you directions.

Usary Pass! Take McKellips road east out past Power road. Not sure what the next light is but take a left. Go for several miles and then take another left at the 4-way stop. Up a steep hill and back to Power road.

Do it the opposite way too for a good long hill.

I live out in East Mesa and there are alot of good hill routes. I also agree that Fountain Hills area has alot of good hills too.

Well there is really only one route to take, it's just an out and back. Just take Pima road north to Cave Creek Road, then go right (east) on Cave Creek. This is a steady gradual climb that you will continue on for a while until you see the turnoff on the right that says something like "Bartlett Lake 15 miles;" this is right after a short steep climb. Once you make the turn off you will go down for about 3 miles, up for 3, then down for another 9. Once you get to the bottom, turn around and have fun climbing back up.

thanks everybody! Ill defenitely check those places out....Does anybody know about south mountain though? It is like 5 minutes from my where i will be living so it would be really convenient. Again, thanks for the help.

Sorry I do not know about south mountain. I do not live anywhere near it so I have never gone riding around it
