Can you imagine being the guy that woke up after months to
find out three of his riding buddies were dead?

Heehee..sorry..meant 16kph OVER the limit. $70 is just
unbelievable!! What do you think would have happenend if
he'd plowed into a pack of cyclists or pedestrians? I wonder
if he'd be treated differently..seriously. That's crazy.
Scott..
Well, you got to give the driver a break. He was probably on
the phone and in a hurry. People need to get to where they
need to go and motorcycles are kind of in the way.
I think the amount is about right.

Maybe the judge just doesn't want motorcyclists in his
neighborhood. Would you ride in that jurisdiction if you
knew the penalty for killing you was just $70?

That's some humor you have. If that's what it is.

That's for killing three and seriously injuring two more. It
seems a motorcyclist's life is only worth about $15.
It's strange that a bicyclist trying to cross a highway is
doing something so reckless they get 20 years when a car
driver decides to go into the other lane to get around them
and causes a crash. But if you're in a van and decide to
drive on the wrong side of street, you're not expected to
know that could cause a problem.
I'm sure some apologist for the criminal justice system will
tell us how this is all fair and makes perfect sense.
There's no double standard here. The fine for killing
someone on a motorcycle is less than the one for a bicyclist
not wearing a helmet. The courts is biased? Un-possible!
Some bikers in Iowa should just get a car and run over Gary
Lee Butler. Pay the $15 ticket they get. Hell of a lot
cheaper than a lawyer!
