Hi-Vis or Reflective Outerwear

OK, some considerations: first, scotch light stuff doesn't hold up that
well after multiple washings, so you really should look for something that's
a bright color. The brooks stuff and reflective vest phil linked to are
good stuff- excellent color choice on the brooks, cars can see that stuff
from a mile away.

I have a similar color jacket -- pearl izumi escape jacket in "screaming
yellow". You can see it from a mile away. Pearl izumi also have a similar
jacket, called the "flash jacket" which is like the escape jacket but with
additional reflective material.

Brooks also have "nightlife" jackets, tights and vests.

I'd recommend you take a look around the Brooks website. Between the
accessories and all the other stuff, you should be able to find something.

Rob,
Why mess with all that nonsense? Just put reflective tape on your
Spiderman cape. I know you hate to "stand out" with that reflective
tape calling attention to you and all, but it's the safest way.

Try bicycling clothing, see for example http://www.performancebike.com/
I love my Pearl Izumi Whisper Vest in high visibility yellow, though
my old one was more green yellow and my new one is more straight yellow.
It is particularly bright in fog and in other high UV conditions.

Personally, I feel it's better to run without any bright stuff since
sometimes, drivers seem to unintentionally veer towards you while
checking out the bright outfit. Moreover, if you're dealing with punks,
it'll give them a mile to think up something to yell at you or throw at you.

Also, have you considered using one of those arm bands with a few tiny,
but bright, blinking LEDs on them? You can find them in a bike shop for
under $9.99.
