  1. Wow! I got about 8 emails the last couple of days from some of you
wondering if I was ok. I'm fine. Just busy. I took my first hike on
Sunday on the Boulder Creek Trail. Its a tad over a mile but I did it.
Im down 95 pounds and my docs and I are thrilled.

Have had a bit of trouble with heartburn and burning pouch since I only
eat 3 times a day so my pouch is empty a lot. The doc warned me I might
have it. Prilosec 2 times a day is my best friend right now as I had a
bit of a tummy ache from all the acid backing up.

I feel wonderful! Life is good.....

I redid pictures yesterday if you want to check them out:

  2. Trouble with heartburn?

Perhaps you should try a low carb diet.

You look great! Can't you have something low calorie between meals to help
prevent heartburn? Perhaps a few tablespoons of low-cal Yogurt or even baby
    food,... or something similar?

  9. Hello Laureen I'm new so I'm not sure what kind of surgery you had. Was it
a gastric bypass? I saw the pics great job!!!! Keep up the hard work and
don't give up. I had the gastric bypass and lost 100lbs. I gained 25 lbs
back after having a baby. You are looking great!!!!

My sympathies. A new med for me along with a necessary carb
adjustment up because of the same med set off some ugly GERD. Doc
prescribed Zantac 150 twice a day and that controls it if I'm careful
    what I eat.
    Acid sucks. :-(

Glad to hear you're out and bombing around though. That's what this
    was all for - freedom!

    Take care,

  14. There is no grazing allowed I am allowed 3 meals and 2 snacks. I
generally eat protein. One cant eat more than one thing at a time LOL,
there isnt room! I eat a lot of cottage cheese, tuna, chicken, smoked
tofu, smoked turkey breast etc. I count every calorie and carb too.
It's nice to see my efforts pay off though. One of my fav orite treats
is 2/3C Fat Free Mountain High yogurt with 2 frozen strawberries
sliced and whizzed up with a bit of Splenda and refreeze it and it is a
cross between soft serve and milk shake consistancy but it is kind of
carby. I generally dont go over 50 carbs a day. That seems like a lot
since I used to live on induction. Its all working though!

  16. Yes the meds help. I hate taking pills though. I have always been anti
pill. Taking the pain meds a couple of months ago even went against the
grain.I have always been an acid maker even on low carb. I was taking
Protonix but my insurance wont pick it up anymore so I got switched to
Prilosec. That stuff OTC is expensive!$29 for 42 tabs. My insurance
charged me $7 for a one months supply of 56. If I have to stay on it I
can get 180 tabs for $10. Thank God for insurance!

find a nice smooth protein drink. I found one made by Unjury. YUM!!!!!!
I drink 2 a day, take 2 multi vits, and calcium citrate that I have to
    smash with a hammer!!!!

My lab work came back perfect. My B~12 was even normal. Some people see
a dip in it after one uses up their three month reserve. It's all good!

married. I weigh like 40 pounds less! I havent weighed this since the
early 1990's when I lived in Fairbanks, Alaska. He tells me he has
never seen me smile so much. I saw my Dad for the first time since day
#2 post op and he didnt recognize me waving at him from a distant. He
was sitting in his van brushing his hair waiting for me on May 3rd when
I went to Seattle for my 3 month check up. He got out of his van and
stood there with a sad look on his face and tears ion his eyes!!! and
just kept saying "OMG! OH MY GAWD!!! OMG!!!! You have changed so
much!!!! Let me hug you and see if I can get my arms around you. Im so
proud of you honey!!!, I love you so much, You are so beautiful!" He
made me bawl my eyes out!!!! It was a poignant moment.
