and you're right - the Classics season is fantastic and there is a hell of a lot more to the sport than one 3 week race

I always like the Classic season but unfortunately I only get to see what Eurosport cover.

I have a sneaking feeling that Van Petegem will be there or thereabouts.

I'll have an outside bet on Tom Steels and wishfull thinking for a top 10 for Roger Hammond, gotta go and clean ma bike, keeps us informed......

Who'd have thunk it then, Nick Nuyens (Quick.Step) takes HET Volk, congratulations that man. Boonen completes the Quick.Step triumph by taking second in the bunch sprint, easily beating De Jongh (Rabobank).

Sounded like a cracking race......

First Post!

It shows that Quick.Step were truly the strongest team...they managed to catch a break with the likes of PVP, Hincapie and Ekimov, and it certainly shows Nuyen's class that he rode away from a peloton with even more big names.

I thought it was a pretty pathetic effort from Davitamon-Lotto. Didn't even make the top ten, and they had such a strong lineup (Petegem, Van Bon, Steels, Mattan - McEwen didn't even get Top 10 in the sprint...)

Last thought...It looks like Discovery has a very strong team...i was surprised the break got pulled back...With a lineup like Hincapie, Ekimov, Hoste, Hammond, Devolder and Van Heeswijk, I think that Discovery will be hard to beat in the Pro-Tour northern classics.

Very nice and tough race with some pretty bad weather in the last 30k

went to the start this morning and watched the live coverage on the TV

Stijn Devolder was very strong but Quickstep were the smartest with a VERY strong Nuyens in the last 20k

I thought for sure that break would hold. I am surprised to see George and Hammond to not break the Top 10, but it's the first race. Poor, Poor showing for Lotto. With all the Quick Step/Lotto talk I was expecting both teams to be all over the Top 10. Good job Quick Step!

I'm very envious of you lot who got to see the race !

Me too! What an incredible win for Nuyens! Sounds like he really poured it on to stay away.

It did sound like a great race - looking at various websites, I'm trying to find out
how the race actaully went !

hmm it wasn't such an exciting race as previous race. Nuyens had a good attack but the peleton which was still quite big, didn't quite react well. They couldn't organise so Nuyens could stay away
